The best part about this Ferraro shit is that the headline is "They're attacking me because I'm white."
The worst part about it is that there's a good chance Hillary will get a significant boost from it.

Yeah, but his prospects with the 'Reagan Democrats' really weren't all that great to begin with.

    Yeah, there's also that.

Yeah, let's stereotype people as racists based on where they live and piss them off so we can bitch when they don't vote our way.

Don't ever wonder why or act suprised when the south keeps going red because you keep spitting in their faces.

There is no way the Clinton stronghold, SNL, will run pro-Clinton skits anymore. No fucking way.

Why's that? Has it backfired on them?
After the person on your finance committee says something like "They after me because I'm white", I don't see how they can continue to make fun of Obama for being a media darling. I think the Hillary campaign in the last two weeks has been so fucking ridiculous, that any more pro-Clinton skits from SNL would be boo-worthy.

When I was younger I always naively thought the American system was better, because it didn't have the first-past-the-post system of representatives whereby a party that gets 30% of the vote can run the country.

When I found out about the electoral college my mind was blown. You only vote for two people, just add the votes up!

p.s. Obama got over 90% of the black vote; yikes.

Yes, because there's certainly no racism in The South. Nope, la-dee-da-dee-da, I'm just going to go around in my magical world, pretending that The South is "the real America," and they believe in equality for everyone, because everybody knows that the best way to address a social ill is to pretend it doesn't exist.

Is it our fault they have a 'please spit in my face' sign on their chest? 80% of 20% of Ohio Democrats are admitted racists. It's not as if this is some magical fairy land where race is no longer an issue. Especially amongst voters since they tend to largely be old people. The kind of people old enough to have lived the majority of their lives in segregation and potentially had lynched a n***** as a social event.

Well, this is a region that historically votes as a block. And it was Democrat (read: not the party of Lincoln) from the Civil War until LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act when they switched parties. Let's just say there is some evidence to suggest that the South, especially older Southerners, may in fact think less of people who do not share their skin color. Same could be said, of say, Boston, while we're at it. A lot of old white people are dumb about race. Fortunately, there are signs it's getting better. I was encouraged by the percentage of white Georgians who were willing to vote for a black man for example.

Whenever I read comments on a news story about Obama, half of the time at least one person says something like "why do the media insist on calling Obama black? He's just as white as is black. For him to call himself black shows he hates his white mother."

Appalachia's another region where Obama's going to get screwed by racial issues. I read some commentary about that region, and they have a lot of racial identity problems. And mixed race individuals are treated with a special form of disdain and there are racial epithets for them that I had never even heard of before.

Do you know how the delegate count was impacted? I lost track of the story since the last time I saw it in one of these threads.

On a semi-related note, I guess Obama just netted 4 more delegates from CA when more of the provisional ballots were counted.

So the interesting thing about Mississippi's exit polls to me is that white Democrats voted just about the same way as white Republicans in Mississippi - especially odd given that apparently around 3/4 of Repub votes in Miss were apparently there solely as spoilers - that is, they gave "approve of neither candidate" as stock responses to the various questions of that flavor.

It appears that nearly every white Republican who crossed over in earnest voted for Obama.

I don't, unfortunately. I would be surprised, based on the number of votes I recall being recounted (mere hundreds), if any delegate totals were actually influenced. But, that's a pretty uninformed assumption, so feel free to google me wrong.

I asked this in the chat and no one really answered, so I'll ask again here; did anyone get a statement from the Clinton campaign on their thoughts on Rush Limbaugh's "endorsement?"

I know it's silly, but I'm getting a little sick of the camp running away generally scot-free with every tiny little thing.

Like NAFTA. No one has picked up on that, and she still uses it in her speeches. Baffling.

When 16% of Ohio Democrats admitted to being racist (and I have to figure for a question like that, for every one that says yes there must be at least one more who wouldn't admit to it), any illusions I might have had that America is past racism were pretty much shattered.

There are pretty distinct groups among the Democratic party, particularly well emphasized in Ohio. I wouldn't let that information surprise you.

That said, it's probably good for those illusions to be shattered, regardless.
