The Bomb - Jeff Gerstmans New Project

The new Blog/Website from Jeff Gerstman, Ryan Davis, Alex Navaro.

It's pretty good they have released 3 podcasts one released yesterday.

It's nice to see the old Gamespot Team get together for what could potentially be a very good website.

GIANT BOMB = Gamespot V2

Hopefully they do well for themselves after what happened at Gamespot.

Good luck guys.

Has potential. I am downloading the Podcasts as I type this.

Did you notice how there isn't a section tab for Wii on their main nav? I thought this was on purpose at first, but then they talk about Brawl.... I guess they will add it soon?

They've said that their system updates tabs as soon as content is made for a system, ergo, as soon as they write a Wii review the Wii tab will appear.

I posted about this in the other Gerstmann thread, hopefully it gets some more attention here!

For me, Jeff Gerstmann pretty much was Gamespot, so I'm glad that he and Ryan Davis are doing something new together. I have nothing but high hopes.

They are setting up a new office as we speak.

I assume they have a whole new website design in the works. The Blog and Podcasts are just filler untill the main site goes live.

I love the new Podcast format. The one released yesterday was the best, podcast 3. They can say what they want without being scared of what they are saying.

I have heard a few swearwords but they are not going over the top with the freedom.

They do tend to talk about FLIPPING ENERGY DRINKS a LOT. Give up on that guys BORING!!

I want to see more Video Reviews.

I love Video Reviews and that has come to a halt on game sites these days. Especially Gamespot which is so dead now.

Alex Navaro is not part of the Giant Bomb.

"To those wondering if I’m involved in this project in any way, the answer at this time is no. I’m supporting those guys any way I can, but I’m not writing for Giant Bomb at this juncture."

Either way i've always been a fan of Jeff, hopefully they get Greg K on their podcast sometime.

Yesterday's cast was actually the fourth episode. The whole energy drink trend started in the very first one, and I for one think it's pretty hilarious.

To each his own I guess. :)

Gamespot was shitty with Gerstmans there. Just because he got shit canned for not giving an advertiser a high score doesn't make his new retardedly named site any better than what he produced at Gamespot. He did manage to make a very generic blog template ugly as sin, so props for that.

I agree tbh, I think for journalistic integrity in games journalism it's a good thing that there was a lot of publicity around his (probably unjust) dismissal, but I never liked gamespot in the first place.

I used to like gamespot. It was so convenient. Now, I won't go near there. They have lost all credibility since the incident...

As far as the Energy Drink talk, I thought it was hilarious. They were just hamming it up, testing their audio equipment. I doubt it was meant to be taken seriously. Good improv IMO.

I do not like the design of the site as it is now. At all. Or their logo. I look forward to the next iterations.

I really couldn't careless about all this. I'm with KVW, I didn't care about GameSpot (I don't care about mainstream gaming journalism that much, period). I also don't care that Jeff got fired (although it's not because I hate him, I don't know anything about him) but maybe this will turn into something I will follow? Maybe not.

However, I respect him for doing it and I love the "Hold to Build a Bomb" - it's so fun watching videos of things like that being built. I can't wait to see the office with some equipment in it. I'll check out the latest episode of the pod cast now, just to see if they're complete douches or cool guys.

So, you don't care about something because you never investigated it before. How's going outside working out for you? Almost made it out the door yet?

The podcast feels a bit light without Alex. Hopefully he's there next time.

But, anyway, I'm really looking forward to their official launch. I've really liked Gerstmann, and his review of Zelda was the only one I actually agreed with. So, yeah. Should be cool.

As far as gaming podcasts out there you can do a lot worse than this. So I'll probably be listening for a while.

it's better than Xbox 360 fanboy's podcast where the first 20 minutes is them talking about how either they haven't had time to play any games in the past week, or how they're achievement farming halo 3...

gerstmann was the best thing about gamespot.

i fully support and endorse anything he does in the future, including this.

also, great to see alex and ryan joining him on it. its obvious behind the scenes they jumped ship as a direct result of what happened to jeff, and i admire that kind of loyalty and friendship in what is such a fucking cutthroat industry.

I've been listening to the Giant Bombcast (formally Arrow Pointing Down) since there "beta" (aka, first) podcast. They have a really wacky structure that involves talking about sports drinks and video games. I for one love the podcast, and can't get enough of listing to Jeff drink some crazy energy drink, or hear them talk about some crazy ass slushy made out of Cap'n Crunch.

I was a huge fan of Jeff and Ryan's when they worked at GameSpot, definitely the best personality's on that website. So I'm totally going to fallow this site and there podcast, I can't wait for the whole thing to go live.

Great to see an honest down to earth review of Smash Bros.

Love how they dont need to bow down to the Nintendo faithfull. Well I dont think Gerstman ever did, especially with his controversial review of twilight princess.

    Good job guys ;)
