The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
So up until recently my PS2 wasn't working. It wouldn't read discs of any kind and would often fail to read those it started on.
I took it apart, cleaned off the lens, and stuck a game in there to test my results. (I fixed the housing back onto it)
Worked like a charm. No problems at all.
So now I'm re-assembling the system and as I'm screwing the casing back on I punch a hole through the ribbon cable that attaches the on/off switch and the open tray switch to the unit.
It will now neither turn on nor open and close.
So my question is: Can I fix this? Somehow? If not, can I replace this cable? Bypass it?
You can fix the damage if you soldier a replacement length of wire to replace the ribbon threads that got cut, but I'm assuming that's not really within your ability.
