What's the best Linux variant for PS3?

See the title. I'm ready to try out Linux on the PS3, now I just need to know which one is best? By that, I mean most supported, best looking / most functioning, and easiest to install.

Yellow Dog
Ubuntu
Debian
Fedora
Gentoo

Those are the only ones I know of.

Basically, I want to convert movies, and surf the web... and of course, play around with a PC on a 52" screen to see what else it can do.

I can't speak for the PS3, but ubuntu is the best distro I've used. Gutsy Gibbons is an excellent release.

Quick question to anyone who's installed a linux distro on a PS3 - can you use lirc to intercept sixaxis button presses? Or is the sixaxis found in /etc/input/eventX?

I've been thinking of throwing linux on my ps3, what did you guys use to backup the HDD before installing? I only have 1gb and 4gb pro duo sticks, and it wouldn't let me do it piecemeal(in the summer). Has it been changed since then?

As far as typical distros go, I use Debian, but I believe ubuntu and fedora are the most user friendly.
