I am looking for some software that will automatically record and playback audio, hopefully with 5.1 channels.
Long story short (And a couple of postings in H/A) I am trying to play PS3 audio through my computer speakers. The sound card I bought has an SPDIF in, but only for recording audio. I didn't know this till after it was bought, but oh well. A reviewer on newegg mentioned that s/he was able to hook it up to his PS3 and used software to simultaneously record and play it back.
Do you know of any software that would allow me to do this?
In your windows volume settings, turn the appropriate channel on so you can hear it. Then, go to options > properties, and switch to recording control. Select either the channel you just turned on or "stereo mixer." You should now be able to record the sound with any recording software, including windows sound recorder.
The problem with what your talking about is that there is no SPDIF playback channel, there is only the ability to record from the SPDIF source.
What I need to do is find a software that can record and simultaneously play the file back. Kind of like streaming the audio I guess? I have audacity but I cant find any way to do that, and it has to be free or close to free software. Anyone else have any ideas?

I know Protools does, but I doubt you're looking to spend $300+ for this.
Ideally that is what I want, from your post though I thought you were telling me how to record from that source.
