Hidden and Dangerous 2, featuring twenty ways to walk forward

I picked up this game along with the Sabre Squadron expansion, and the concept behind it is amazing. It sounds like everything I want in a tactical shooter. However, the interface is proving exceedingly impossible to get around. I really want to like this game so much, but I just can't get over the lack of polish in the squad tactics. Some things are brilliant, with the special ops hand motions, weapons, and whatnot.

There's so many ways to play, but only a few work well. The tactical screen is so unintuitive and slow that I just put off using it altogether, though I'm sure you can play with it well. Then you can control each guy on the fly, but that ends up confusing the hell out of me in combat. So I just play with a squad leader and hand motions, but they're unreliable (and slow) at best. Are there certain situations I should use each individual style?

What am I doing wrong, G&T? I should love this game. Why am I not loving it? D:

Because it's horribly crude & badly designed.

That game only worked "well" because me and two friends loved it and played it co-op so giving commands and such wasn't the issue. But jesus was it harder then hell at times and the controls blow so much, even for its time there was no excuse for the lousy controls.
