Right, so this summer I am embarking on some epyc trips. I'll be going from Columbus, OH to Belfast, UK.

Thus far, the cheapest flight I can find is a round trip from JFK to Dublin - the bus from Dublin to Belfast is 30 Euros, which is negligible.

I'll also be going to Holden Beach, NC at the end of that trip.

Skybus to New York/ Stewart is $55, and Stewart to Greensboro is $35.

The alternative is CMH to JFK through Delta, which is $1400+.

If I can find a cheap way to get from New York Stewart to JFK, I win at this trip.

Is there a train/bus that will take me to/from JFK to Poughkipsee?

My google-fu is weak.

I need to run out for a bit, but to start you off - from the Stewart site (http://ask.skybus.com/info/NewYork-Stewart.shtml), it says
    METRO NORTH
    (800) 638-7646
    www.mta.nvc.nv.us

Port Jervis Line offers direct link to Hoboken, NJ via Salisbury Mills Station

Hudson Line offers direct link to Grand Central Terminal via Beacon Station

    AMTRAK
    (800) 872-7245

Full service stations are located close by in Poughkeepsie, Croton-Harmon

Going to JFK you want the long island railroad (LIRR - http://www.mta.info/lirr/), which goes out of Penn Station (I believe there might even be a specific skytrain to JFK, look for specifics on JFK's site), but getting from Metro North to LIRR should be a pretty easy subway connection (or a couple block walk if I'm remembering correctly), and if you do Amtrak most of their trains go through Penn Station (though it's usually more expensive than the other trains)

Stewart is on the OTHER SIDE OF THE RIVER from Poughkeepsie. There is no rail connection at this time to Stewart from the west side of the river either. There is a bus link between Beacon's Metro North Railroad station and this will probibly be your best bet, but you will have to find a way to connect from JFK to Grand Central. Remember, LIRR does not go to GCT, it goes to Penn Station. So you will most likely end up on a subway with your luggage and then have to take a commuter train northward, then change to a bus, then get your stuff onto the plane...
