I've got a friend at work who has an old camcorder, and she's interested in moving the videos onto her hard drive. A quick google search didn't bring up anything helpful, but I figured that someone here would have the answer I'm looking for.
Her camcorder can hook up to her TV via the normal three audio/video/stereo plugs. Is there some sort of attachment that would allow her to transfer the video directly from camcorder to her computer?
Let me rephrase that, I know that there MUST be some sort of attachment that allows that. What would it be called, and where would it be available?
Edit:
Doh, google wasn't working because my search was a bit too ambiguous. "A/V to USB" did the trick. Disregard this.
You just need a video capture card. The easiest solution would be a TV/capture card, like a Hauppauge or something. They have USB versions if you aren't comfortable adding a card to the computer, and the standard definition ones should be pretty cheap.
Edit: the older one is under $50 (here) and an updated version of that is around $130 (here). You can just look around Newegg in the TV Tuner/Video device section and there are tons of other options as well.
