Should I preorder Wii Fit?

I know that amazon UK isn't taking pre-orders yet, and others are, but I live in dreaded fear that I might miss out if I wait for amazon, while other people are pre-ordering from GAME etc right now.
I don't want to have to wait ages once its released finding stores with no copies, and I badly need to enjoy some computer game aided yoga.
Am I mad to think that amazon might run out of stock the nanosecond they start allowing pre-orders? I'd rather buy from them because they are reliable and I have an existing account yada yada.
I'm in the UK obviously...

    1) do you absolutely have to have the game on launch day?
    2) does it cost you any extra to pre-order?

I'm not really familiar with demand in the U.K. and I haven't pre-ordered a game from Amazon before...
But I think you've got pretty good odds to get it through Amazon. They're a large business so they should get plenty of copies and, while I don't think this should spin into an arguement about Wii Fit, I don't think that game in specific is in danger of immediate sellout. Also, as you know, free shipping over 25$ and nice reliability.

How has amazon been with pre-orders and taking too many preorders per the number of units expected?
while I don't think this should spin into an arguement about Wii Fit

I think the particular concern with wii fit selling out is that it includes new hardware, which may limit its supply.

Do people really think there will be a shortage of Wii Fit? Damn. I really don't see it, but I said the same thing about the Wii itself, and we all know how that's going.

Good point about the hardware, that is a concern. Rock Band is a good example there. I just wanted to stray from a Wii Fit quality arguement and was just trying to point out the general gamer opinion of Wii Fit seems mixed. Mainstream will probably grab it up pretty quick, but I don't know if the average Wii user knows about Wii Fit yet, hasn't been advertised too much outside of the gaming community. While the supply may warrant a pre-order (or a pre-preorder as is the case here), I don't know if the demand does yet.

Don't worry, you'll just be able to walk in and buy one on launch day with no problems.

Again, if you don't want to run the risk of waiting to play it, and it doesn't cost you any extra to pre-order, then I'd say go for it. Being in the UK, I've never payed any extra for a pre-order.

Yeah, if the only issue with pre-ordering is money than I would just go ahead and pre-order it. Why not take the few moments now to make sure you get it on day one? Even driving around looking for one on release day would take longer than knowing when and where you're going to have one.

As far as the chances for it selling out... yeah... We're talking about the Wii here. I had to wait in a line for an hour a couple weeks ago at a midnight sale to get one so I've no idea. All I can say is that I wouldn't be surprised if it was sold out day one.

I pre-order nearly all my games from amazon.co.uk, it costs nothing and they always arrive on launch or the morning after.

Honestly, the key thing is it costs nothing. If you want a game there's no reason not to pre-order it.

Wii fit, Wii - £64.99 delivered

I am pretty sure you can trust gameplay to get it to you at least at launch. It's certainly not going to go down in price until a long time after launch.

The mainstream media is ALREADY spooging over the Wii's exercise/therapy uses. And this has been going on long before Wii fit.

Plus the fact that they have to make that balance board means that it will be moderately difficult for them to keep up with demand.

It sounds like an he is having an issue whether to pre-order from someplace where pre-orders are currently available or wait for them to be up for pre-order on amazon, not whether he should pre-order or buy it in store day of release. Am I reading the OP wrong?

That's exactly my dilemma. Right now I'm waiting for the inevitable 'we are taking pre-orders now' email from amazon, but im suspicious that other sellers are doing them now and the big A is not. Maybe there are hardware supply shortages already?

Of course not, you'll just be able to stroll into any store on launch day and pick one up.
Seriously, Nintendo is making it their largest marketing campaign ever, it's better not to risk it, especially if you go with something like amazon which doesn't (i think) require a downpayment to pre-order

EDIT: oops, misread. Yes, if you really want it, you should just pre-order, you can always cancel if you change your mind

Well, one plan is you could find some less trustful place with pre-orders now, look up their policy, and pre-order with them. Then when Amazon has them up for pre-order, if you're able to pre-order one from Amazon before it sells out, you could go back and cancel your pre-order at the previous place. Just make sure their policy allows you to and still get your money back. That way you cover your back and keep sleep soundly knowing somehow you will get your Wii Fit.

It looks like amazon UK have given up any hope of taking pre-orders, and GAME show that there just aren't any more to sell, so i sneaked in today with a pre-order at pcworld, who are at least still taking orders.
This game is going to be huge.

I want to get one, as well. However, Gamestop doesn't have a pre-order page up and Amazon isn't doing preorders, yet. One person on Amazon selling preorders for $449. No thanks.

Wow. I beat you. When does this ever happen.

£66.49 at pcworld.co.uk when you use 'yawap08' for 5% off.

But maybe I trust savy or woolworths more...

Nope sorry. Although, you should be able to get PC world to sell it to you in store for their web price. If not you can get them to pricematch Zavvi (although they might refuse since their site lists "virgin" as an online retailer they pricematch, not Zavvi). It'll only save you like £1.10 anyway though.

Cheers for looking, :^: I went for Woolwoths as 1) I've been umming and rrring (sic) too long and just needed to get it over and done with. And 2) for £4 its worth being able to pick it up at a store ten mins from my house rather than get some idiot leave it on the porch.

I was thinking of buying one from playasia. Know anywhere else that ships to Australia? Here it shouldn't be a problem picking one up, but you never know.

moreso: I read a few previews and such, but does anyone know how effective it actually is in terms of toning and weightloss? It'd be great to have a fun way to get toned up and such, but I'm not sure how well suited it will be. It DOES seem more like a gimmick/toy than an actual solution, but from what I have been reading, it is actually quite brilliant. Thoughts?
