I have this amazing 22" monitor that is not being used because I have been on my laptop pretty much 95% of the time instead of my gaming PC. It's not a gaming laptop by any means and I don't have a desire to play anything on the gaming PC right now so I don't even bother to turn it on. So I am planning on using this monitor as my PS3 TV and its going to be in a completely different part of the house. Now, my problem is this. The 5% of the time I use the PC is important. Dragging the fucking monitor all the way back is going to be a massive pain in the ass. Plus, sometimes I get a hankering for Call of Duty 4.
So here is my question. The laptop is right next to the PC. Is it possible to somehow see my PC's screen through my laptops screen? The PC is XP and the laptop is Vista, not sure if that matters.
I don''t mean just see the files. I mean actually maneuvering around the PC, using my laptops screen as the monitor, being able to start up STEAM and playing some games on it.
No. You could get some kind of capture device, but it would look like shit (especially for games). You could remote into the PC from the laptop but that would probably look like shit too.

Sorry.
Ok, screw games then. I'd just like to use it for some general stuff. Burning dvd's, etc. Picture quality is fine.
I would just use VNC and remote into the desktop. I'm usually running a few towers at work that don't have monitors connected and I just VNC into them. Bonus is you can disconnect the keyboard and mouse from the tower to save space (just need network and power). There's a bit of processor overhead and screen lag which is why it sucks for games. For more productivity stuff it's great.
Yeah, aside from hacking open your laptop and splicing a VGA-in port into the LCD's connection, it's not going to work. The laptop has VGA and S-Video out, but no in.
I doubt your laptop has any video in, like suggested before VNC or remote desktop even could work, you could make VNC into a service and put a static IP on the PC so you could connect to it at any given time all you'd have to do is turn it on but I've always preferred remote desktop when I want to connect to a PC in my house.
