God Damn My Fucking Wireless

So I set up my wireless modem a couple days ago and today I decided to switch it from WPA to WEP. Only in doing that it's fucked it up something awful apprently and now I'm stuck at "waiting for the network." At this point I've disabled security settings, turned of the modem, restarted my computer, and even reset the modem to factory settings. The one really screwed up anomaly I've seen is that even if I turn off the modem my computer says it detects it while secured.

What the Hell peoples?

Edit: And now I just solved it. I feel very silly.

    Experience with a stupid amount of wireless issues has shown that walking away and then coming back half an hour later and usually doing the same process gets it to work.

    Technology is stupid.
