The Forbidden Kingdom! Jackie and Jet!

Two of the greatest martial artists together at last!
The Forbidden Kingdom (Chinese: 功夫之王) is a forthcoming Hong Kong martial arts-adventure film which is the first film collaboration between martial arts veterans Jackie Chan and Jet Li, with action choreography by Yuen Woo-ping. Filming was completed on August 24, 2007 and it went into post-production on September 29. As of April 2007 the film is officially titled The Forbidden Kingdom, before it had been often referred to as The J & J Project. Director Robert Minkoff (who previously helmed such films as The Lion King and the Stuart Little films) will be behind the camera. Film studios Lionsgate and The Weinstein Company, will share distributing duties.

An American teenager obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and kung-fu makes an extraordinary discovery in a Chinatown pawnshop. He finds the legendary weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King. Suddenly, the teenager unexpectedly finds himself traveling back to ancient China to join a crew of warriors from martial arts lore on a dangerous quest to free the imprisoned Monkey King.

Why do we not have a thread for this? I saw a commercial for this yesterday. I don't normally watch TV and am kind of out of it. Is this getting crazy hype or what? It certainly should be. It has Jackie Chan and Jet Li together in the same movie, choreographed by Woo-ping! That commercial yesterday was the first thing I have seen for this.

I'm very excited. Jackie Chan and Jet Li are awesome, Woo-ping is awesome too. I am a little worried about the choice of director. Although Minkoff was behind the Lion King, which is one of the best Disney movies and quite an epic, he has never done a martial arts movie before.

What do you guys think? It comes out pretty soon! (unless you are in Britain or France)

Honestly, I love jackie chan, and I love jet li. Nothing gets me harder then the scene in drunken master where jackie chan dressed in heavenly white robes armed with a fan advances on a group of jack off's holding rifles. But his stuff as of late has been dissapointing.

I'll be seeing this movie, in hopes that it's a return for both of them to the world of honest to god martial arts movies, but my hopes aren't high.

I didn't know what that is, but then I checked IMDB, and it doesn't seem to be a kung fuish movie.

Kung fu hustle 2 sounds like a good idea though.

I enjoyed War, which led to my wife and I watching that Bank Job movie in the theater, so not what I expected from a guy who I thought was an action movie lead.

Jackie Chan and Jet Li in a movie together seems intriguing, but how much time do they spend on screen together?

    More like The Forbidden Love.

See I am implying that the movie is in fact 108 minutes of Jack and Jet secretly meeting for romantic escapades.
