Had to Recover Drive - Made Backup- Tried to open a Backup folder- "Access Denied"

At least, the "My Documents" folder, which happens to be the most important one.

Am I just screwed? Is there any hope here? Why is it even listed if it won't let me open it?

Also, around six or seven files elsewhere in "My Backup" just won't get deleted. Restarting my comp won't work. Any ideas?

I had a problem where I couldn't delete a folder and some files (kept getting "Access Denied" eventhough "everyone" had full access). Pulling the drive and attaching it as a secondary drive on another system allowed me to delete it.

You had your files set to private on your account thats why they show up with access denied. You need to reset the permissions.

I don't have time right now to write the directions out so here:

Worst case: You should be able to boot up in Knoppix (or Ubuntu) and get access to those folders. I'm sure that's how I got through that situation on my computer.

I just went through these steps the other day to solve this exact problem, and it worked great.
