The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I just finished my first game of the Call of Cthulu RPG, and find myself wanting to expand into more RPG systems. Being an avid Star Trek fan, the two seem to intersect nicely with a Star Trek RPG. Now, I know that there are two: Decipher Star Trek RPG & Last Unicorn Star Trek RPG.
I was wondering if anyone out there had any experience in Star Trek RPGing, and which they preferred. Which has fewer flaws? Which is simpler for a newbie like me? Which is cheaper?
That should tell you all you really need to know =P.
Both games are out of print and have been for a while, so cost will probably be set by eBay sellers.
As far as a core book goes, I own the Last Unicorn TNG core rulebook and it's not bad, I think I preferred it's rules to the Decipher ones but that's a vague recollection. There are some earlier Trek RPGs as well,
I don't think I'd recommend either for an entry-level RPG, but that's partially my bias against Trek as a RPG universe (freeform internet games being an exception).
