OMG OMG, Help me Interview VideoGaiden's Rab and Ryan!
I have managed to secure and interview/Q&A session with Rab and Ryan from VideoGaiden/Consolevania. I've been in contact with VideoGaiden's assistant producer, and he has said that I should just email him a list of questions, and they'll answer them, and I can then publish it on my blog.
So, I have thought of a few questions, but would definitely like some more suggestions for what I could ask them.
If you haven't watched VideoGaiden, you can see all of the current series here, although it may be blocked for non-UK ip addresses, if so, just head to youtube and search around, starting off with their God Hand review.
I should just email him a list of questions, and they'll answer them, and I can then publish it on my blog.
This is a lazy way of conducting an interview, and you'll never get a decent one if you can't adapt to the answers they give or ask new questions about something they mentioned - it'll be far too groomed, and not as interesting. Push for a phone/IM interview if you can where it's much more dynamic.

Hi guys, thanks for agreeing to do this interview?
Firstly, I would like to say congratulations on another fantastic series of VG, I've really enjoyed this series. What have been your highlights?
I really liked the review Rab did for "The Club", it really highlights what I love about the game. Ryan's review of Bully has also put it on my 'to play' list.
Your choice of game of the year was Super Mario Galaxy. Certainly a good choice. Did you ever hear anything back from Nintendo about it?
What were your favourite Galaxies? I personally loved the Freezeflame Galaxy and Toy Time Galaxy.
For the final TV special, how did the Jonathen Coulton performance come about? Is he a fan, or did you get in contact with him?
It was a really nice performance of Still alive.
You seem to have championed internet distribution of television content, both with CV and the VG streaming/webisodes. What made you guys decide to embrace this medium so much? and what benefits did it offer?
Any plan to make bbc.co.uk/videogaiden support playback on the Wii/PS3?
With the BBC iPlayer seemingly going from strength to strength (with recent news of it supporting playback on the Wii) you guys seem to have been pioneers of internet video, where do you see this medium in 10 years time?
Video Games TV seems to be having a bit of renaissance recently, what do you guys think of Yahtzee's 'Zero Punctuation'?
Are you guys looking forwards to GTA4? I hear you have a world exclusive on it.
What format will you be playing it on?
Rab, I've been enjoying watching your other TV program, Empty, it's a really nice change of pace from most of the comedy on telly these days, what's the viewer response been to it?
You still didn't get back to me about making a facebook profile for Tony...
A couple of questions from my readers -
How did you managed to get Tim and Eric involved with VG?
Either of you got around to playing No More Heroes yet? Opinions?
Do you think Disaster: Day of Crisis is the new Illbleed?
Why are you not funny?
or any good at reviewing games?
or remotely aesthetically appealing?
Rab, why are you fat?
Was Consolevania a much better show than the recent videoGaiden series?
What is the genius of God Hand?
Is it an FPS?
Now, my readers would never forgive me if I didn't ask you about your plans for the future. I know you have made reference to a particular "coathanger mic", is a new series of Consolevania on the cards? Maybe a spin-off for Hunter and Rayorg?
I'd probably try condensing the way you're writing that, so you just have a list of questions rather than breaking them up with statements. E.g.
For the final TV special, how did the Jonathen Coulton performance come about? Is he a fan, or did you get in contact with him?
It was a really nice performance of Still alive.
For the final TV special, you managed to get Jonathen Coulten on, delivering a great performance of Still Alive. How did the Jonathen Coulton appearance come about? Is he a fan, or did you get in contact with him?
And try to keep multiple questions on the same subject together, so they can give back a block of text, or avoid repeating themselves.
Are you guys looking forwards to GTA4? I hear you have a world exclusive on it.
What format will you be playing it on?
Are you guys looking forwards to GTA4 and if so what platform will you be playing it on? I hear you have a world exclusive on it.
I'd tone down the bits about you. It'd be different if you were doing an informal chat, but this isn't about your opinions and you're leading the answer.
Has your instant celebrity with the masses and subsequent media hounding in the sunday tabloids resulted in currently fashionable drugs problems, as is usually the preference for latter career scandals when you start losing popularity?
Ask them why Charlie Brooker is so right about everything. Also ask them who among the team possesses the greatest sexual prowess. Also, what is, in their opinion, the best game about punching people?

I may email the assistant producer and see what he can do about doing it over IM.
I don't think I would be any good at doing an interview over the phone...

Damn, that's classic. A perfect example of how not to conduct an interview.
Wow.. that reads like something you'd write at school. "Think of a list of questions you'd ask Kofi Annan if given the opportunity"
brilliant.

Get the videos on their website working on the Wii?
thanks guys
What questions can I ask Rab and Ryan?
Besides that, this is shaping up to be an interview I would read.

To be honest, I can't think of any questions that aren't really typical or boring.

Can I get an obscure fact to add to wikipedia?
Thanks for you time!

etc
The preceding suggestions are also very good.
Oh God, if you ask them this Lewie that would be the best thing ever!

I would hate for something like that to happen
You appear to be correct?

Also, I have sent the questions now, thanks for you input guys. I'll post keeping you guy up to date.
Bah, all my rude and condescending questions keep getting shot down.
Well played, sir. Well played.
I interviewed MC Frontalot once, and he was a complete pain in the ass.
I remember hearing you were interviewing him. What actually happened?
He was just really difficult. He answered every question in with a smarmy response that was as brief as possible.
These guys will probably be much more pliable.
