re doooo mi fi si la ti do ti la laaa [new music thread]
This is something that's written by another friend of mine at school. It is part of a Mass that he wrote and I am one of the six singers in the recording (I'm one of the basses). We did the recording a bit over a year ago. We actually recorded two parts of it and I might upload the second if I get around to it. Agnus Dei from the mass. (Not quite as good a recording... we spent like two hours learning and recording these and one other section so they're pretty rough).
More to come once I get more uploaded.
Edit: I'd also like if anyone else wanted to share their stuff in here.
Ya know, I was gonna try to set up a myspace account for myself and my music, but that whole site just looks like an abortion gone wrong and I really couldn't get into it at all.
What's the problem? Yeah myspace may be a heap of shit, but if you want to publicize your music on the cheap it's a pretty good choice. Plus, my brother and the guys he plays with really aren't the type of people who care about shitty sound quality or ugly site design or any of the other myriad reasons not to use that site.
edit: No problem, Hamju. Like I said, it's a great idea. By the way, I listened to the songs you posted. I enjoyed them, but I'm really too clueless about classical music (would your piano piece be considered classical?) to give you much of a helpful response.
Wait, I just read your whole post. I didn't before because I just saw the Myspace link. Read the rules, mate. Post your own work. Nobody here cares about your brother's band. If your brother wants to join and get feedback from the people who post here then he can.

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it anyway. I don't really like classifying stuff (especially my own work) under the super blanket of "classical" music, so I just label it as "other".
No worries. I'd also like to encourage comments on my stuff, even if you think you don't know enough about this genre of music. Anything you can think of could be helpful (what you liked, what you didn't like) even if it's stuff like "I liked the bangy stuff" and "I hated the first 5 minutes".
The second song is fantastic. Also, I think this is a great idea. All I have now is a shitty recording of an acoustic tune, and stuff from my old metal bands. I'm hopefully going to record some rough demos in the near future and will definitely post some of it then.
Definitely like the Angus Dei. I'm a huge fan of choral Masses, and am currently singing 3 in the choir I'm in at my university.
I guess I'm eternally biased about how the agnus dei "should" sound, since the first one I performed was from Rutter's Requiem, and it was completely bad-ass and dark. Around a minute or 2 into yours, where the tenors make the chords minor really reminded me of it. (in other words, definitely sounds great!)
I may be super late on this one, but I said I'd have tunes, and here they are. They're all pretty close to final mixes, just a few volume deals. I'm looking for an outsider opinion on the mixing as well, so if you've got any suggestions, send 'em my way.
Oh, and I'm one of the guitar players and I do the very little vocals that are there.
Finally some vocals! This one has a few mistakes in it, and in the middle the other guitar player does this upstroke deal and it's supposed to be a mellow backround thing to keep it a little more upbeat, but it's way too loud and admittedly a little bit grating...it'll be changed in the final mix, and I promise it sounds a shit ton better that way! Also, it's called An Adventure/Romance Through The Ten Spatial Dimensions: Part Ten. http://www.imeem.com/people/dw5rj4K/music/Oo5aubpU/blaze_n_murder_track_1/
Oh, and sorry for the linkage. I can't embed from the site I have the songs posted on. Well, not here anyway.

The first one sounds like some of Satie's work.
The choral piece is now in my iTunes library.
The Agnus Dei is also cool.
Though an underestimated disease keeps me from contributing, I will be a regular consumer of this thread. Goddamn it, someone cure tone-deafness.

This one is instrumental, and as it stands it's my favourite. It's called Far Too Many Fingers, if you actually care.

There's a sorta kinda faster guitarish part somewheres in the middle of this one that definitely needs to be turned up, but I think it turned out pretty good as well. Again, no vocals, and no song name either.
