Cosplaying black female game characters

So my gf wants to dress up as a video game character for a con that's happening in August.

But she's tan (NOT BLACK, if it makes it easier), Caribbean-like. So the only characters that come to mind are Fortune from MGS2: Sons of Liberty and Alyx Vance.

Can anyone think of any others? So far Fortune seems like the best bet since I'm light skinned (Asian) and Vamp would fit in perfectly.

What I'm asking for is basically a costume idea for her, and if possible something that matches with me (I'm a tall Asian guy). Also; any idea for me? :D hahaha might as well get that over with.

EDIT: Costume making time isn't really a factor, since the semester for uni just ended and we have plenty of time on our hands (a few months until August).

Thanks!

P.S :D Is putting it in capital when mentioning some sort of racial thing grammatically correct? So is it Asian or asian? I was never sure about that =\.

Asian denotes someone from Asia the way American denotes someone from America. Black doesn't denote any specific nationality or continent of origin, so it doesn't count that way.

Farah from Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

Tetra from Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker is pretty tan, too.

At the risk of not being very helpful, may I suggest she cosplay as a character that doesn't physically resemble her. People at a con really won't care if you have the wrong skin color if your costume looks good. Besides the fact that in a lot of anime, and anime styled games it is unclear what ethnicity the characters are even supposed to be, or at the very least white people don't seem to care.

The other idea, is a costume that is not a specific character, ie. your WoW character, member of some elite squad, tribe, fantasy race that is from a game.

If the character is some green chick, then nobody has the right or wrong skin color to play them.

Yeah I have been to a decent amount of cons where anyone can be anyone.
I saw an overweight Riker once
a male cammy (ohh the pain)
and about 12 different colored morgana's from dark stalkers (those were enjoyable)

Recently, I was at a convention where only the girls did cosplay, so there were female naruto's, L and Kira from deathnote, etc. etc.

I was honestly hoping she was white and going to go in blackface, because, really, that would be hilarious.

The hero and protagonist, whose story the book follows, is the aptly-named Hiro Protagonist: "Last of the freelance hackers and Greatest sword fighter in the world." When Hiro loses his job as a pizza delivery driver for the Mafia, he meets a streetwise young girl nicknamed Y.T. (short for Yours Truly), who works as a skateboard "Kourier", and they decide to become partners in the intelligence business.

Yes, lets find homely black women to mock, just to prove a strawman.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys :D, she ended up choosing between Jade from Beyond Good & Evil and Fortune from MGS2 since they're relatively easy.

Lots of gel I assume for the hair. If you know anyone with a mohawk or spikey hair in general ask them what they use.

For the armor, I'm not sure. I say look up more pictures of her and see if she has different outfits.

This is why i did a Ghostbuster uniform and an SG1 uniform. You don't really have to look like anyone.

Vaseline will make hair stand like that, but you need dish soap to wash it out.

Personally, I think Alyx is a good choice. She's a great character, tough, smart and resourceful. Plus, she looked hella fine.

Also, how about Christie from Tekken?
