PS3 60GB Reliability (and 80GB)

I'm trying to buy a NEW (not refurbed, not used) PS3 that will play PS2 games. The 60GB is obviously better with hardware emulation, but finding one with an actual receipt is hugely expensive. I can however find reasonable ones that are limited to a 30 day warranty.

How do PS3 owners feel about the prospect of only 30 days for a warranty?
What experiences have people had with the 80 GB Software emulation of PS2 games?

I a recent thread in G&T (MGS4?) it was mentioned that the BC of the 80 gig was pretty damn close to real BC. Take that for what you will though.
