Quick question. I was just wondering. What would be a really entry level program to do some simple animation? I don't mean anything hand drawn or anything like that but more akin to something like in Monty Python that I could convert to a format that I could use with a video editor. Basically just pictures moving across a background. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Flash also works but is more limiting in that aspect (3d space). The upside, though, is that it can be uploaded to places OTHER than Youtube on the web. If you have tour own website, for instance, it can be displayed directly on the page rather than through a player. It has a bit of a learning curve and you haveto think about certain things as nested animations.
Toon Boom does both and really well at that. It's more complicated, but then again, that's why the pros use it. If the money is there and this is a serious hobby you want to invest in, Toon Boom is good. However, If you don't want to do any frame by frame or hand drawn stuff, you're better off getting After Effects or Flash.
