So I know everyone says just go to a doctor, but I just wanted to see if you all had an idea or if I even really need to go to the doctor or not.
But here it is, I got sick sunday night just being achy and everything Monday I came home early just was miserable, no appetite, diarrhea, Achy still and tired. So I figure I had the flu, three days later and all the symptoms are gone accept the diarrhea so I am wondering if it is something that should be taken to a doctor or just hope it goes away eventually?
Diarrhea isn't a symptom of Influenza.
It sounds to me like you might have gotten yourself some kind of food poisoning. If so, it's nothing that major. Have you vomited or had any nausea? Is there any blood in your stool, or is it just very watery?
Personally, I don't think you need to go to the doctor. Just avoid dairy for a while, drink lots of water. I once asked a doctor who recommended that every so often I had a glass of regular coke with a spoonful of salt in, just to replace any lost sugars and such. But that really depends on how often you're going to the toilet.
Just stay well hydrated. You'll want more than just water though, because you're not getting any nutrients from it. Go with gatorade or some other electrolyte heavy drink (or just get pedialyte, which is for kids with diarrhea... and they come in ice pops too ). If the diarrhea doesn't go away in another day or two you'll probably want to see a doctor.
Yeah I'm going with food poisoning. If you're only really suffering from diarrhea and general malaise. Had you eaten anything particularly iffy in the 24hrs prior to when your symptoms started? Chicken, reheated leftovers, fried rice, off milk or cream?
Most of the time, at the point when symptoms start getting heavy for food poisoning the bacteria are already on their way out of your system and it's just best to let them run their course. If it's food poisoning there's no need for antibiotics or anything of the sort.
I'd take the advice above and drink something like gatorade. Try and avoid anti-diarrhea medicine unless you have to go out somewhere. It's best to get it all out
Also, might not want to cook anyone dinner for a while...
Yeah Called the doctor this morning because I have to get better before my interview tomorrow. He said no sense coming in but to not eat anything for 24-48 hours avoid water and drink Clear sodas, So I bought a case of ginger ale and here I am.
