It's not an 'over worked' thing either. Anyways, about a week ago I went down on my girlfriend, the next day I developed a sore throat. It's been about a week and I still have it. the sore throat seems to come and go, however the back of my tongue is sore and this does not go away at all.

I'm thinking it may be oral thrush, I'm gonna head over to urgent care tomorrow and see if I can't get looked at, but maybe someone else knows what this is. The sore tongue part is what throws me off.

I also tried to see if I could see down my throat, and I examined my tongue but there were no visible lesions.

Is it a muscular pain in the tongue? Could be that you just aren't used to it.

Maybe I wasn't specific enough in the first post. It's not any type of muscular pain from straining myself

I, er, get ulcers sometimes, just from stretching my tongue so much. :|

Is the back of your throat discolored, at all? The roof of your mouth? By discolored I mean mainly white.

I've looked but i can't tell. Looks normal to me, I'll have to have some one else look at it.

Eh, going to the doctors is the best course of action anyways...

Did you use a flashlight? All you have to do is open your mouth wide and shine a light down there.

yeah, I did... but I can't exactly see all the way down my throat like a doctor would be able too. When i did I didn't see anything. Not even the bright red that would accompany strep

You know, it could just be coincidence that you got a sore throat and tongue after going downtown. You might just have gotten sick. My eye was continually sore many years ago after I saw the opthamologist, and I thought I had a bad reaction to the drops. Turns out it was coincidence that I was coming down with mono at the same time and was running a fever, which is something that tends to make the muscles in my eye hurt. So my first guess is that it's the same thing with you. I could be wrong, though. Doctor trip probably wouldn't hurt.

It could be thrush (a yeast infection in the throat), but those tend to be a bit more pressing, and usually look like strep.

My guess is, especially if it was first time oral, or she was near the start of her period, you probably picked up a light bug, and are fighting it off. Thats the main job of the tonsils, so if they are a bit swollen, they are just doing their job.

People think that a bug or a virus either exists or does not exist in another person - they feel sick, or they don't. The truth is that people are hosts to hundreds upon hundreds of viruses, and those little bastards are there all the time. They become concentrated in certain areas at certain times (menstrual spotting is a freaking haven for the beasties), and they also hang out in specific areas of the body. So new exposure, like oral, or even kissing someone for the first time, results in your body producing the right antibodies for those bugs.

A great example of this is when you first meet a new partner, your body wants to be 'all over' that person, and people make out a lot- this is essentially a survival trait, your own body receiving and exchanging the biotic cultures with that person - not uncommon to feel a bit rough about a week after meeting someone new as your immune system sorts everything out.

If it turns into strep (esp if your prone to it) get an antibiotic, otherwise its normal, and takes a week or two to go away. If it seems to be getting worse and worse over a three day period, go see your doc, as your immune system is losing the war, and probably needs a hand.
