A lovely looking film that you probably haven't heard of

The Fall is a film directed by Tarsem Singh (director of The Cell) that is finally seeing a limited release in the U.S. after being screened at film festivals around the world for the last couple of years. It's about a young girl that ends up in a hospital after breaking her arm, and the man she befriends who tells her a fantastic story that takes her mind off the boring hospital. However he has his own reasons for stringing the story along as you see in the trailer.

I've been unable to determine exactly where it's being released, but I'm hoping the film is as good as it looks and that this results in a wider release.

    I never saw The Cell

    I just assumed that it was awful because Jennifer Lopez was in it

    Yeah, you can see it has a very similar style to The Cell albeit not as creepy.

    I really really hope Seattle is included in the limited release. This could be fantastic at the Cinerama.

    I would think his reasons for telling a girl a story is to get in her pants. If that's not his motivation, I'm not sure if I can suspend my disbelief.

    The Cell was fucking beautiful, but the story was really lame and the acting was pretty much shit.

    I'm surprised the website for the film doesn't have any info on which cities it will be released in. Guess I'll just have to wait until next month to find out.

    I really don't know what to think of this after watching the trailer.

    The idea sounds really neat, but I can't really get excited about that trailer.

    Cool! I just saw the trailer for this earlier in the week. It's supposed to come out here in the US as a very limited release on May 9 according to the blurb I saw.

    IMDB also confirms this date.

    If you read the synopsis on the website, they explain quite clearly that he is in fact getting her to steal something for him to kill himself with among other plot details. I guess some might consider this information spoilers but as far as I'm concerned that's just the backbone of the plot and doesn't really spoil anything. It just makes me want to see this more.

    I'd rather spoiler it and be safe then possibly ruin it for someone. I had Atonement ruined for me when my
    mom asked my sister
    "Doesn't he die of a blood infection?"

    in the middle of the movie.


    I think this movie would transfer greatly to comic book form. Make a nice two or three book collection out of it.
