So I felt a touch of the diablo 2 itch this past week and I have been fighting it. But I just got a cavity filled and I am super ornery and I need something to take my mind off of it. And I just want to click on some monsters until they die so they can give me some pretty pimp items.
I'll update this first post if more people are interested. I personally am going to be playing Hardcore, ladder mode on US East. I'll put your character class and name in here as well. I'm looking to play as a necromancer. Maybe a druid. Haven't decided yet. I doubt people will need to play on US West for latency issues, and I've always just defaulted to East, but I'll keep track of it anyway, maybe some people already have characters on there? I'm assuming everyone has LoD. But I will update the thread further if people need a place to play vanilla d2(yucky).
So, I have this set up. The unfortunate thing is that I need to manually add you if you want to edit in/out your information, and it forces you to set up a GMail account if you don't have one already, so:
If you think you'll be playing for more than a few days and you have a GMail account set up, PM me your GMail address and I will add you to be able to edit your name onto the list. You do not need to message me your player information, just your GMail address, you will be able to add and remove your information yourself.
PM JAEF your details(Your gmail account god damnit)!
Hell, it's been a while since I played Diablo2+expansion. Are summoning Necros and Werewolf Druids viable or are they an excercise in frustration with the latest patch?

Druids are pretty gear dependent in Hell. They can stay alive if you pump enough points into life spirit (supposedly you'll have 8,000-10,000 life if you distribute points right), and you can deal decent damage if you put 20 into heart of the wolverine, but switching between the two can be either a blessing or a curse depending on your play style.
I prefer self-sufficient characters, so I don't like having to toggle spirits depending on the enemies I'm facing.
And as Raslin said, Summonmancers can certainly kick as much ass as they need to given that they have some decent resists. Elemental and lightning in particular will be your biggest enemy as a summonmancer. As he also mentioned, they're not fast characters by any means. Even with amp damage and a might hireable, hell enemies will take some time to chop down (especially act IV and V).
Basically, if you make a summonmancer your main, you have to be rich enough to get Enigma runeword (which gives you teleport). Depending on who your friends are, that could be hard or easy.
Guess I need to read up on the Druid and the Necro. I was never that fond of the other classes so I guess I need to dig out some good builds for them, mostly builds that are useful all the way from level 1-99.
I've been having a rollicking good time playing a Meteorb. Level thirty-something and currently enjoying the newfound power of ORB. Normal East Ladder: Epitrepsa.
Does anyone have a guide handy explaining the Bnet social functions? They're sorta arcane.

Mmm, my summoner was always plenty fast in terms of just foot speed, though you might mean really fast, MF run fast. But basically because of your skeleton army, your equipment totally doesn't matter as long as it gives you some + to skills. I had an extra set of MF gear that got me like 350% and my killing power was barely any different...though I had to physically walk around more carefully.

Yeah, foot speed has never been a problem, but in terms of killing enemies quickly and finding magic items quickly, managing minions takes up a lot of time. =/
The upside is that with 1 point in each curse, and + skill equipment, you'll never have to worry about enemies with immunities, or bosses. The only thing that might give you a problem is a unique with immune to physical and weaken aura together.
I don't want to, but I do want to at the same time... okay I'll free up some harddrive space, but the second I start seeing different item rarities when I close my eyes I'm taking a break.

I haven't played Mythos in quite some time now. It's kind of funny that it's starting to look like Mythos will be more succesful than Flagships high budget title Hellgate:London.
I see a fight description of baal, and they say to kill baal before diablo shows up...... what the fuck? What did they do to this game? I played 1.10 or the patch right after it. What the hell has happened? Also you guys should seriously look into mythos when it hits open beta.

That's talking about Uber Tristram, a special thing you can do after you beat Hell difficulty on the b.net realms. You do some stuff and then eventually get to go to uber tristram where you fight pumped up versions of Diablo, Baal and Mephisto together.
And I'm totally up for this, hard or softcore. I have a 40ish softcore ladder sorc and a 45ish hardcore ladder summoner necro, both on USwest.
Protip: The hardcore trading market on USwest doesn't seem to exist. This puts a crimp in my plans to trade for the runes for Enigma runeword armor.
If you want to play hardcore USeast I can roll a sorc over there. I loves my sorcs.
I haven't played Diablo II in a long time, but, I mean, I have Mythos. It's kind of the same thing.
I'm enjoying D2 much more than Mythos -- the pace is faster and I find that the grim atmosphere makes the grinding seem less silly.
It's different for me, though -- didn't touch D2 until this last summer, so I haven't tired of it yet. I imagine it's pretty stale by now for some of you posting here.
So... does Diablo II run on Vista? I can't find my old discs and I wanted to ask before I march down to Target with my 40 bucks. (I never had LOD anyway.)

Like, whoops I tripped and money fell out of my pocket and rebought the D2 battlechest.
Don't do this to me.
Play D1 instead, at least that only takes around ten hours of my life away!
C'mon.
I haven't played since, uh, ages ago, what does the expansion pack add? Worth buying?
I mean, just think of those items. You'll be rolling around with 90% to MF and shit will just be droppin' everywhere.
Then you are cured. Be proud.
Well, I can't say no to that. Guess I'll make my way to the store.
If I MF Mephisto one more time I will kill myself.

Never been a druid fan.

I thought, what the hell, I'll play this time!
I discovered that I have the CD for the LOD expansion pack, but I don't have the D2 CD.
Did I just dodge a bullet?

Edit: This is the thread I usually go to for up-to-date builds. They use a lot of abbreviations, though, so you might have to muddle through before you get the slang down.
