Xbox Live and Saved Games

I asked this question a bit specifically in the Halo 3 thread, but I'm wondering if this is a more general problem. It appears that Xbox Live is back up from the maintenance, but I'm not able to connect to it (well, it says I connect, but then after a few seconds nothing happens and the menu asks to connect again). I am not able to load my Halo 3 save right now (it just sits at the loading screen forever), and I'm wondering if saved games in certain games are somehow linked to live connectivity.

It seems odd they would be, but I don't know why else I'd have a problem loading a save all of a sudden. I attempted clearing my cache, and it didn't fix it - has anyone else seen this happen with Halo or other games during xbox live downtime?

Have you tried unplugging the internet from your 360 and tried loading up your save?

I would wait another few hours for LIVE to be fully stable since it was like this last time they took it down for a few hours.

    I haven't, I'll try that right now.

EDIT: It worked! I'm surprised Xbox Live connectivity would affect my solo save game, but whatever.

    Thanks!

XBL is going under some upgrading at the moment, so it's pretty wonky. It should be back to normal soon, but I dunno when.
