Humidor Advice

So I recently got into the cigar world (which I am enjoying very much) and purchased a larger humidor because I knew my collection would eventually grow.

I have a 100 cigar humidor (The Prestige) that currently has 34 cigars in it, and my humidification system is two gel jars (something like these). I thought that two jars like that would be good enough to keep the humidity around 65% but it keeps on dropping. I properly seasoned it by wiping the sides with distilled water and left a shallow dish of distilled water in the humidor for 4 days but the humidity keeps on dropping. Is my humidor defective or do I need a better humidification system?

Check your Hygrometer first and make sure it doesn't need to be replaced, then check your sponge to make sure it isn't dried out, water it down. Also, use distilled water over tap.

Can do, I'll do the salt test and see how far it might be off. It is digital so it shouldn't be more than 2-4%. see, I didn't like using the sponge since P/G is so hard to find around here, so I just used the 2 jars. Can that work? They are both supposed to give off around 70% so it seems like they might not be working the best. And I never used anything but distilled.

I'd use the sponge. I had a 30 cigar humidor and a sponge built for a 120 cigar box, paid a little more, but it was worth it in the long run.

Also, just a tip, try cutting up some apples into quarters or eighths and putting them in there, or a shot of makers mark, brandy, or good bourbon. It'll add to the flavor.

I've never read a review of a humidity monitor that didn't think they were a joke and gimmick. Just keep some fluid in there and make sure it's sealed probably and you'll be fine.
