PS1,Saturn and N64 games (with a twist)

NeakyNeaky Registered User regular
edited April 2008 in Games and Technology
I'm looking for a list that has all the PC games (Such as Doom, Duke Nukem, etc) that were ported to the consoles listed.

I'd hate to have to go through gamefaqs and make my own list but if I have to I will.

I know this sounds pointless as 99% of the games are probably better on the PC but this is some thing I'd like to do ( I plan on buying all of them eventually)

Starcraft was ported to N64, and Command & Conquer was ported to N64 and PS1.

Yeah, this is a strange request.

Does it matter if it was originally PC or console? You say "ported to consoles" but just in case.

Diablo was ported to PS1. I think some of the Myst games were too.

It has to be on the PC originally then ported to a console.

I'm not really asking for you guys to name games, just if there is a list some where point me in the direction.

If there is some thing in these ports interesting to talk about then go ahead.

The twist is that he wants no ordinary list - he wants one with a specific filter!

All of Westwood's RTS games before Red Alert 2 were on the home consoles.
    Dune 2 - Genesis/MD
    C&C:TD - N64/PS1
    Red Alert 1 - PS1
    Red Alert Add-ons - PS1
    Dune 2000 - PS1

Here's a few others off the top of my head:
    Myst - PS1/Saturn
    Riven - PS1
    Myst 3 - PS2
    Doom 64 - N64

Theme park (sort of, under the guise of Sim Theme Park) - PS1

Myst and Brain Dead 13 were both on the Saturn.

I think Duke Nukem and C&C also were.

    Doom 64 - N64

actually Doom 64 is an entirely new Doom game with new levels and completely redone enemies, and some modified weapons (and one new one).

Some people created a Mod for DoomII that replicated Doom64 for the PC version though.

Anyway, Doom64 is a lot of fun, great doom game. I just wish that you didn't skip like 10 levels towards the end 'by default.'

Dreamcast also had a port of the first Rainbow Six

And how could I forget You Don't Know Jack as well? (Playstation)

Edit: Really? It was entirely new? I mean, I knew that it was graphicaly enhanced, but didn't know the levels were redone as well.

Every level in the game was totally new. There are no levels in Doom64 that were in previous Doom games.

All of the textures and art for walls/floors are new, and the art for enemies and weapons are new too.

Some of the weapons were modified, and there's even a new super weapon.

The final boss is some kind of huge bug thing that was never in the other Dooms.

Finally, they enhanced the lighting engine, so that Doom64 actually had colored lights.

Doom also made it to the SNES and 32X. Duke Nukem 3D also made it to the Genesis but only in certain regions.

Doom was also released on the XBLA for the 360

Speaking of Doom for the SNES I heard that even though on the box it says it uses the Super FX chip that it really doesn't.

    Anyone confirm?

There was the Super FX chip, and the "Super FX 2" chip. The FX2 chip was basically the same thing, but with more power. (as in, the FX chip was "underclocked" at 10.5 MHz, the second release of the chip, the "Super FX 2" chip was just basically the same chip but clocked at its regular 21 Mhz speed)

Doom used the Super FX 2 chip. As did Yoshi's Island.

Yeah, that game is still awesome.

I mean, sure, the textures were a little blurrier than the PC version, but other than that, the game looked awesome, sounded awesome, and the controls were superb. Plus the minor additions, like the guns, and the polygonal final boss, and some remixed DM arenas, it all was icing on the cake. 4-p DN3D deathmatch on a single console with 4 controller ports? Fucking awesome. Plus I think it had cooperative as well. man, great game.

Is it worth pointing out the ports that made it to the Jaguar as well? I myself had Castle Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Syndicate (the version of Doom for the GBA seems to be exactly the same as the Jaguar port -at least, it has the same omissions).

The Saturn version of Myst had a great 'making of' film clip.

The PS1 version of Riven came on 5 discs.

Other than stuff thats already been mentioned, the only thing that comes to mind is Forsaken. A decently reviewed Descent clone that had a simultaneous release on PC, PS1, and N64. I think of it as a PC game first and foremost as I first read of it in PC Gamer, and wasn't aware of console version until it came out, and the PC version had slightly better reviews. Never did actually get around to playing it though.
