I need to give my friend a Birthday Present, so I'm looking to buy an R4 DS... Any good places to buy? Also, anything I need to know about the r4? Thanks guys. :^:
you shouldn't be talking about it here. I think that's about it.
Very untrue, as long as you're not talking about using it to play commercial games. There is a plethora of homebrew action out there to get in on with the DS. That's right, a plethora.
Here's the DS homebrew thread which contains answers to the questions you have and probably some you haven't even came up with yet.
I'm pretty sure no one in that thread is discussing where to buy one.
especially with a lame cover story like "present for a friend"
Why would you need a cover story to buy a homebrew unit? And yes, tons of people were talking about that. One of the most common threads of discussion were along those lines. Most popular retailers don't carry the item, so finding a good place to buy one is a challenge. All that said, link to homebrew thread is above. That should be all OP needs.

an interesting fact on the R4 is that it's destroying the DS software market. fuck you!
I've seen a thread on the subject actually. Was a homebrew thread, I saw alot about R4 there...
You are correct sir.

edit: Beaten like a red headed step child.
Actually it really is for a friend. I missed something of his..
Umm, this is a trainwreck.
NO MORE POSTS PLEASE.
Thanks. :P
Seriously, if there's nothing wrong with homebrew then how can there be a problem with purchasing a device to use it?

I understand homebrewing is a big deal these days...
