Sorry for the problem post but I have been trying to find a solution for this myself for hours now with no help from the greater internet.
Recently wanted to play AoE2 for the first time in a long time, and went about installing it. Well, the game installed fine, but when I attempt to run the game it boots shows me an AoE 2 splash screen then just does nothing, its like the process gets killed without an error. The splash screen just eventually goes away and the game never fully boots.
I am running windows XP, fully updated, the game itself is patched up to par. I have also tried to reinstall a few times now, and run in various compatibility modes to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.
