New Duke Nukem Forever information-video with shrink gun

Duke Nukem Forever, the game, actually exists.

I have seen it. Maarten has seen it. We watched actual interactive gameplay being interacted with.

Of course, we are far from the first to make such a claim. During 3D Realms' lengthy development cycle of Duke Nukem Forever here in the Dallas area, I have run in to my fair share of publishers and developers who boast they have gotten a glimpse of the game.

To be honest, I thought the game's supposed existence was a vast conspiracy. More than a couple of times over the last decade I have gotten vague invitations to come see the game "someday," with it never happening. I figured this was probably the same invitation other developers in the area had gotten, and were claiming that vague invitation as having actually seen the game.

Nothing of the game has been made public for years until that Duke Nukem Forever teaser was released last December.

However, that all changed recently. For a good half hour Shacknews witnessed several different DNF gameplay scenarios, mechanics, and environments being demonstrated.

We actually got to see the truth of Duke curator George Broussard's many past claims, including environmental puzzles and interactivity, a host of finished weapons, the existence of an in-game forklift, and plenty of heads and arms being blown off.

We both confidently agree that after seeing this demonstration, Duke Nukem Forever is looking great, and will easily stand apart from the crowd in both visual and gameplay styles.
I can't wait for it to be released, hopefully sometime in 2010.

    DNF doesn't exist.

This is going to be like the that movie Christopher Walken makes in that rom com with Catherine Zeta Jones and John Cusack.

While that is true, GSM, one can ride the tines while I position you over this great pit - what mere crane can achieve that kind of excitement? A crane can only provide height, but I can dish out depth in great quantities.

Came for the Duke, stayed for the lulz, left with a sig.

But really, I'm excited for DNF. Even if it takes decades to see a release date. Long-awaited Duke is better than no Duke at all.

I'm serious. I'd wait twenty years if it was near as fun as the N64 game.

Why is it that whenever anything "preview" related has been released about DNF in the past six years, that it's always a "screenshot" the size of a postage stamp, a "Trailer" that's mostly pre-rendered bullshit, or "hands on impressions" that equate to three sentences of "it exists"?

Jesus, back in 1999 at least they had the decency to lie to us with actual goddamned gameplay.

But really DNF shouldn't be made, in my opinion. It should always stay that ONE game that you wanted to come out, but never did... And the developers keep telling you that it is coming... Just to keep your hopes up. Then they crush them with each passing year.

Duke Nukem Forever is like all the "laters" you parents tell you is when you'll do something fun. "We'll do it later", they'd say, and after a while you started to realize that "later" would never come, and that someday you'd be describing this sense of loss and betrayal to a psychiatrist.

Duke Nukem Forever is a concept for a non-physical being, that exists only in the minds of people who really irritate you. It's like people who claim to be actual vampires. The more they claim that it's true the more they irritate you, and the more you disbelieve them.

Duke Nukem Forever is a lie in the same way that free ice cream would be for someone who is lactose intolerant. It might be real, but it will also destroy you, but not before reducing you to someone sitting in a puddle of vanilla, and chocolate, and minty vomit.

Even if I ever play Duke Nukem Forever I won't believe it. It'd be like having tea with John Kennedy and Howard Hughes. I might taste the tea, but I'd know it was all a dream, a bit of nagging knowledge that would ruin the afternoon.

George Broussard would be the devil, if only he were real.

Wasn't there gameplay footage of DNF back in, what, 1998 or 1999? At this point, I don't care if people saw it in a video or on a screen or in person or stuck their wang through the hole on the disk. I might start to care again when they see it in a box on a truck going to a store.
