Absolutely no idea where to go to solve this one. Google is most definitely not my friend, save for one YouTube video suggesting I download a fix from a site that no longer exists. I'm hoping someone here has run into this problem and knows how to repair it, so here goes nothing.
Feeling a pang of nostalgia brought on recent news of revival of the franchise, I fished out my copy of Earthworm Jim for the PC the other day. The game runs fine in all respects save for one problem - sound effects don't work. The first sound it plays stutters, keeps stuttering, and doesn't stop unless I disable the sound effects. Re-enabling the sound effects then causes the game to crash.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this problem? I would just say "Bugrit" and download it for the Virtual Console on the Wii, but we're either going to get the SNES version or the Genesis version and both are more or less incomplete versions of the game.
If I can get it working there may be a "Let's Play" in the near future.
Can you post some more information about the crash or is there no error message whatsoever? Someone else's video on YouTube acts like all he had to do was disable and then re-enable his sound for it to work in XP, but if you're not getting that far then something else must be up.
Also: which version of XP are you talking about? Or is this something else?

Sorry, I should've clarified by stating my OS - I'm using Vista Home Premium. Initially I was having trouble with even the CD audio, but a quick change of the Compatibility settings to Win98/ME solved that. The sound effects still stutter though, and disabling/enabling the sound causes the game to simply crash in that rather undescriptive manner Vista seems to handle software failures.

Is this the isometric one?

It's the first one. It's a 2D platformer. Looks a little like this:

The cartoon was awesome.
My last final is may 10th, so I should be home by the 11th. PM me then and I'll remember to find it for you.
Wait what? What was the isometric Earthworm Jim?

EWJ2 had isometric shooter levels. I believe thats the closest the series ever got to that description.
Awesome. Thanks!
