Books in Russian

I need help finding books written in Russian. Ideally I would get them from some sort of Library, as I'm looking to read them not to own them. I want to practice the most basic Russian skills possible. In case it matters I live in NYC. I don't think the New York Public Library has books in russian, especially not easy books in russian, but I may be mistaken. Just so you know how easy these books need to be, think see spot run in Russian. If anyone knows anything like what I've just described I would be very grateful.

New York Public Library system catalog lists over 1000 books in their children's collection with the keyword "Russian" - just browsing briefly, it looks like about 2/3 of them are actually in Russian and the rest are about Russia but in other languages. So I would say that would be a good place to start. Especially try a branch library in a heavily Russian neighborhood; I don't know NY so I'm not sure where that would be but I'm sure it exists, as it does in most large cities I have been to.

The other thing to try would be used book stores/flea markets in the same type of neighborhood, or even a community center or association for Russians. Poke around here:

P.S. Google is your friend, all I had to do here was search "New York public library russian" and "russian community new york city" and read for 5 minutes. Not trying to be rude, just trying to give a pointer on how to find stuff out.
