(So, apparently they're doing something like this over at the ScoreHero forums. We decided to completely rip off the idea because we're fucking jerks.)
The G&T One-Man Rock Band Competition
1. Everybody plays the same song for a given week.
2. Set the highest score you can for each part individually--guitar, bass, drums and vocals. You choose the difficulty for each part--a higher difficulty means you
can score more points.
3. Add up the score from every part to get your total score.
4. If you've got the highest total score for that week, you win!
5. The winner chooses the next week's song.
6. go back to step 1!
Sounds fun, doesn't it? Shit yeah it does.
What if I don't like the song for a given week? What if somebody chooses a DLC song that I don't have?
If you don't like the song, or if you're unwilling to pay to download a DLC song, you can always sit out for that week.
How do we submit scores? When is the score submission deadline?
It's Monday today, so let's submit our scores on Monday. That's the day before DLC drops, so it seems like a good time.
As far as submitting scores, just post them in this thread. The best way to do that is probably like so:
Guitar (difficulty): xxx,xxx
Bass (difficulty): xxx,xxx
Drums (difficulty): xxx,xxx
Vocals (difficulty): xxx,xxx
Total Score: x,xxx,xxx
Post your scores by 5 PM GMT (that's 1 PM EST) on Monday!
Do we need to provide proof of our scores?
I think we'll be fine with the honor system. If somebody puts up an outrageous, hard-to-believe score, we can always get them to provide evidence (pictures, or we can probably just check their scores on the online leaderboards). But I don't see that happening, because none of us are complete douchebags.
Is it worth doing this if I can only play up to [difficulty] on [instrument]?
Sure, why not? For one thing, your score on that part might still be competitive--a 99% run on Hard might end up scoring more points than a 90% run on Expert. And for another, you should be really be doing this just to have fun anyway.
If you win... what do you win?
You choose the next week's song.
Also, if you earn any of them, you can proudly display these nerdy sig banners (for the following week) to show everyone else how much time you wasted perfecting your scores!
Here's some thinner versions of the top instrument score banners, in case you need to squeeze a bunch of them into your sig, you incredible badass you.

Anyway, none of you will be mad at me when I tell you that this week we are playing...
My Sharona
My Sharona is stupid easy to 100% on vocals. I'll need to figure out how to gold star it, though.
http://www.audioentropy.com/
While I think keeping total scores a seeecret until the end of the week is probably the best way to go about it, I'm not sure whether we need to be so hardcore about anything, really. This shouldn't be serious business--just a way to have some fun with the game.
What do you guys think? We can make up whatever "rules" we want for this, we just decided to try it out a couple of hours ago. The OP can easily be edited.
Because a UK release is so far away hell might freeze over before it arrives.
It's like.. 3 weeks
We haven't even done one week yet, so who knows?
wait what the shit?
have i missed an official announcement here. last i heard, and ive been following closely, it was late august at the earliest.
man am i just colossally out of the loop or are you kidding?
May 23 for the 360.
picard.jpg
This is a great idea. If I can bring myself to set up drums up this week (still in da bag after party last weekend) I'll see how I fare.
twit feed
gonna use my arms
gonna use my legs
gonna use MA-MA-MA-MA-MYYYYYYYYYYY SHARRROOOONAAAAA
Which picard.jpg. There are many for different themes.
Also, FUCK YEAH
edit: well this one, naturally
but a GIS for 'picard' produced this first, so I'm gonna post it too
I knew I could count on you buddy
Fucking holy hell.
I now have a 4 hour drive to John Lennon to mull this shit over.
Seriously, what the fuck scarab. 3 weeks.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
And I agree with K: If you don't own My Sharona, what the fuck is wrong with you?
I'd post a lolcat, but you may have missed those too
The thing for me is, I have enough points to get this, but no way I am wasting them on it. But man, I could have recorded myself playing too. Oh well, next week then.
Oh, burn.
Keep in mind a few songs are charted differently for vocals, either for length or talkys/overdrive. So you might want to specify this in case these songs get chosen for the competition. They are:
Green Grass & High Tides
Train Kept A Rollin'
Won't Get Fooled Again
I guess you could just compare your best score on guitar to everyone else's best score on guitar.
I don't know that it really matters, because everybody's playing from the same deck, right?
So I'm packing a knife and making at stop at yours on the way.
Take a good look at your thumbs while you can.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
I suppose so... I'll eventually get the full kit, so in the long run that probably won't matter.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
It's not a waste, My Sharona is one of the best DLC songs so far. It's fun on every instrument.
Have you see the drum and guitar charts for My Sharona? It's an excellent song on all parts, and really worth a look from everyone.
Second guitar solo (3:15) is epic
Do not engage the Watermelons.
Green Grass & High Tides - Totally re-done Overdrive phrases. Shortened tambo sections.
Train Kept A Rollin' - One phrase ("no! no! no!") changes from a talky to a super high pitch phrase. Some shortened cowbell sections.
Foreplay/Longtime - No Foreplay so there's no opening tambo section.
Won't Get Fooled Again - Shortened intro and sped up synth break.
EDIT: Speaking about Vocals, by the by.
But next week whoever better choose a song I like! *shakes fist*
I'm joking, please.
