Postmark dates?

Really simple question. I'm facing a postmark deadline that is today, if I get this letter to an outgoing mailbox before the pickup time, will it be postmarked for 05/05?

It should; is going to a physical post office itself impossible? If it's critical to be postmarked then you might be better off physically handing it to someone in the post office

I had considered that, I suppose I can pull that off.

If you drop it in a box before the pickup it should get postmarked today, but if you take it to the Post Office yourself it will get postmarked. If it is important I would take it down.

As a note, all of those USPS blue mail bins should have a list on it showing the pickup times.

Yeah, but if it's critically important I wouldn't depend on the mail driver not deciding to skip that box tonight to get his route done earlier

Plus if you go to the post office you can send it certified, and then when the people say "oh we never got your letter" you can come back with "but it was delivered two weeks ago, so it's clearly your fault"

Eh, done and done. Handed it to the post-office directly, guaranteed of postmark today. Whoop.

    Thanks.
