iTunes for Windows question

So it seems I'm getting an iPod Classic as a gift and it'll be here in a couple weeks. Cool beans right? I was looking at installing iTunes now so I could kinda get used to the software but I'm reading something about it reorganizing all my music. It doesn't sound terrible but I'm curious what the extent of this retooling is. Like if the file lacks the proper ID3 tag will it just get thrown wherever?

Also, for the Cover Flow thing overall, does it work like Windows Media Player in that it just searches for whatever album it can find on the server or can you tell it which cover to display? I'm pretty sure it couldn't find some of the things I have but I have a lot of the album covers. It's not a huge deal, it'd just be cool to see those instead of a blank cover.

And I am totally torn between getting this skin and this skin. Both awesome.

    When you first start iTunes it will ask you if you want to import stuff, that's up to you, it'll also ask you if you want iTunes to sort the imported music for you. It'll sort by artist then album, if the id3 tags are missing for either it'll drop it in a folder marked unknown.

    If the id3 tags are correct then you can have iTunes automatically search for album artwork or you can add it your self.
