iPhone email

Can anyone give me some help with setting up a second email account on my iphone? Setting up my gmail account was a breeze, but I access my main personal account through webmail, and it's pop3.

In the iPhone settings, I've got my name under name, then the full joe@bob.com(example) address, then that same address for the description. The next category is incoming mail server. Host name is set to mail.bob.com, user name is joe, and then I've got my password in there. Under advanced settings, I put in my port provided by my host, but the only other noteworthy options are SSL, which I kept off because my host instructions don't mention it, but do say to turn off SPA. I was instructed to check "requires authentication" so I set my iPhone to require password authentication, but not MD5, NTLM, or HTTP MD5 Digest.

After doing all this, I get an error in the mail program saying "connection to mail.bob.com" failed.

Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?

Apple knowledge base might be a good place for this.

Are you sure your username is joe and not joe@bob.com?

I tried it both ways, with joe as username for both incoming and outgoing, as well as joe@bob.com, I got the error both times.

This makes me wonder if there's something much more complicated going on. He solved his problem by adding in some extra server identifier on the host name, and his host name included SMTP, which my email server should be, but that's not included in the host name given to me.

Thanks, but I tried that already, it doesn't recognize my server(it's a purchased domain name).

Best of luck then - I still have issues with getting my webmail on the phone.
