Guys, I'm having trouble connecting to the internet on my Wii and the support site says to change the channel to 1 or 11, but I have no idea how to get there to do that. Can someone help?
You'll need to edit the settings of your router. We'll need to know what kind of router you're using.
Tried it out before work this morning. Video quality impressed me, as well as the completely meaningless, but slick, transitions out of the video.
Being able to download DS demos at home is *great*, and being able to get to the full demo videos in an "easy for anyone to use" format is good for me. The Wii is getting a ton of good stuff this year.

Linksys WRT54G.
Open your internet browser, go to 192.168.1.1, enter whatever your username and password for the router is (it should be in the manual, I think you might just leave the username blank and the password would be admin -- if you haven't changed this to something else yet, you should), click on the wireless tab, and you should have the ability to change the channel there.

This thing is really cool. I've only watched a couple of videos so far, but the quality is pretty good and it's awesome to be able to see videos for upcoming games (wii and DS!) right on the Wii. I'm gonna try and do some DS demos later. Ninja Gaiden is calling me.

Sorry for being a bother, but what do you mean go to 192.168.1.1?

Type it in your address bar. Nothing else, just that.

Sorry, I'm usually more descriptive. Type 192.168.1.1 into your browser's address bar. Do this with a computer connected to your router, not the Wii browser.
Holy shit if you play a DS demo, you have the option to click "purchase" where it brings you right to a website via the internet channel to purchase it.
This is like the Nintendo Home Shopping network more than anything.

Yeah I saw the demo for it a long time ago, and assumed anyone outside of Japan wouldn't see it. Boy was I wrong!
Holy shit. I searched "Sonic" and it showed me all the Wii, DS, and VC games available. If you click on Sonic the Hedgehog for the VC it gives you info and a preview video, as well as a direct link to purchase it.
This is pretty neat. I dont own a DS, so its not as cool as it is to all of you...
...also - jeez, you people are out of space on the Wii? I STILL have the Metroid Prime 3 channel - and after this install I STILL have over 1000 blocks left! You people and your damn love of the VC...
I kid, I kid.

Nintendo Channel is pretty slick. I just got done making recommendations on all my games, and watchin' some videos. Wish I had a DS so I could try out Ninja Gaiden... ah well..
So, Wii Ware hits on the 15th, huh? I am damn near out of space, I really hope Nintendo lets us start using SD cards soon at the very least.
Is it WiiConnect 24? I can't remember. All I know is that I have the service disabled.
Why? Why NOT have it on? Do you get charged per megabyte for your internet service?
The city that I live in is one big wireless hot spot. We subscribe to the city's internet service, which is a bit faster than dial-up during good conditions. For some reason, the PC's internet speed would be brutal when the service was running.
Plus, it seemed like the Wii was warm/hot to the touch when it was in that mode. Maybe I'm imagining that part after reading all of the hardware horror stories from 360-ville.

My Wii started to show up spots all over the TV screen during gameplay which was annoying as hell. Apparently it was because WiiConnect24 overheated the graphics card or something.

Well my Wii is hot as well. But that's how electronics work. They get hot.
In addition, the trailer for the Speed Racer videogame has me interested, especially after I realized it's by the same guys that did Gripshift.

Yes, launch Wii's, or should I say, SELECT launch Wii's exhibited a problem with overheating if WC24 was left on which would cause the graphics chip to malfunction and produce artifacting (sp?). Since it's been fixed, WC24 runs cooler, and heat is dissipated correctly if you don't block the vents.
Anecdotal evidence: My launch Wii has been running WC24 since day one, with some breaks when I take it over other people's houses and for parties and stuff, and I haven't had a single problem with it.
I have had a theory that one of my Gamecube memory cards was corrupted because of the heat from the Wii being in standby mode for too long. Is this possible?

Anything is possible, but it's highly unlikely.

Possibly. Was an official Nintendo one or one of the cheap knock-offs?
A friend of mine had his USB thumbdrive burn out from leaving it in the USB port overnight. Memory card could practically be the same issue.

Welcome back Nintendo.
In addition, I noticed in the video that seems like for the launch of Wii Ware we'll see a revised Wii Shop Channel layout.
