Is putting corporatelogos in the clouds taking marketing too far?
I am imagining driving out to the hills to take breathtaking snaphosts of the city skyline....then having to photoshop out the Starbucks and Microsoft shaped clouds later.
Excuse the pun, but I seriously hope this dosent take off.
"I don't see them causing any real problems. Occasionally up there in the air you run into balloons. The first time I encountered one, I didn't even see it I just heard a bang and thought something had exploded in the aeroplane.
heh.
I think this is pretty cool, but I also immediately thought of floating wangs and boobies.
Honestly, it's no worse than banners towed by planes or blimps or whatever... just another gimmick for advertising at special events.
Basically sounds like balloons that don't leave plastic all over the place. At $3,500 per machine a day and 4-6 foot sizes I doubt companies are going to be pumping these out 24/7 over the Rockies or something.
Everyone (including both articles) keeps calling them clouds. They aren't. The machine the guy is talking about makes shapes 6' across. Once you get up past about 100 m, they aren't going to be recognizable anyway due to their size.
Great for attracting attention or entertaining people at a sporting event, but really not much of an impact on the skyline, I suspect.
And omg, the comments at the end of the one article... wtf, this guy should be sued and jailed?
