So yeah... thread title pretty much covers it. I was rearranging some stuff, had to unplug something from my main surge protector for the entertainment center, and felt shit crawling around down there. After a moment of pure terror, I realized it wasn't spiders, but just simply tiny, tiny ants. Upon closer inspection, they appear to be nesting inside the strip, and I saw eggs and all kinds of nasty shit.
My best guess is there's a crack in the wall right there, and they found the strip nice and warm during winter. I'm gonna raid the shit out of that area, and buy a new strip, but after the horrors of what lurked inside (yeah, we took it apart), I want to make sure this shit doesn't happen again. Am I probably right about the cause, or should I be taking some other kind of precaution?
Ants only need two things to survive: a warm, dry nest, and plentiful food. Clean the room and be careful of what you leave in there.
Oh, and call a professional exterminator to check your house or apartment. Ants might be the least of your problems.
Yeah, the room's clean, and we don't leave shit out. Especially since it was behind the entertainment center, I doubt there was anything spilled back there that they were feeding on. We'll be contacting our property management Monday about the incident.
