I really should get around to buying some more Wii points & an SD card now that storage space is no longer a problem. I've been focusing on XBLA/XNA games of late and it shows with all the WiiWare games that have gotten into my "To buy" list. Right now, the games I want to buy consist of:
Art Style: Orbient (600)
Bit.Trip Beat (600)
Gradius ReBirth (1000)
Lit (800)
Space Invaders Get Even (500-2000)
Tetris Party (1200)
That's $62 if I get all of Space Invaders Get Even. And that's just the cream of the Wiiware; there are some other games I might consider getting along with lots of VC titles that I'd like to pick up.
I'm still holding off on getting some WiiWare and VC games for the same reason as before: huge backlog.
How does TETRIS add to your backlog? You play it for fun and for a high score, or few battles with a friend or online. The extra modes are just gravy.
I have a huge backlog too, and I bought one of the Namco Museums a couple of months ago. I'm not going to keep playing Pac-Man until I beat every single level until the game glitches over. I'm just going to play it once in a while to have some old-school fun. I don't see why the same can't be done for Tetris.

You end up playing Tetris instead of the games on your backlog? That's the way I am: when I play a game these days, it usually ends up being Pac-Man: Championship Edition, Mirror's Edge, or Civilization Revolution, all games that I've beat, but keep playing to improve my score (or leaderboard ranking in the case of Civ Rev). This is despite the fact that I have a number of good games that I've scarcely touched like Prince of Persia & World of Goo.
I can empathize; for me, anyway, it's more of a financial resource backlog. Like, I love me some fuckin' Tetris, but that $12 could go to other newer experiences that I haven't checked out yet. Funnily enough, from the first page:
Finally. I've been waiting so long. I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up Lostwinds as the concept sounds amazing.
I still haven't bought LostWinds. :P I think I'll be investing more into WiiWare in the next few weeks though, especially since repairs will have me 360-less for the next 5-6 weeks. (:()
I'm going to grab a 2000 point card on my way home today since I want some more points for Super Punch-Out on Monday, and I'll splurge on a WiiWare title. The only things I own are Bit.Trip Beat, MLAAK and Mega Man 9, so I need to choose between Tetris or World of Goo.
Yeah, I hear where you two are coming from. Makes me wonder what made me stop playing Geometry Wars Galaxies. I haven't even been to all of the planets yet.
Lunker: If you're getting Super Punch Out for sure, then you'll have 1200 points left from the card, which is how much Tetris Party costs. World of Goo is 1500 points.
You know, there's still another Tetris Party tournament coming up in late April. If you fancy yourself a pro, you could win back the cost of the game. It'll be a vs. mode tourney, and the top 100 finishers will win 1200 wii points.
(Technically, one could even win 1200 points from the tournament that's happening right now, though it's a four-round tournament and you've missed rounds 1 and 2. Still, 500 people get prizes, and under 350 even completed round 2, so if you're really good you might still have an outside shot at winning.)

Wait, tournaments? Official or from a fansite?
Somewhat on-topic: I went to a Nintendo-sanctioned Tetris DS tournament at the Nintendo World Store in NYC a few years back. It was fun to play 4p versus mode in a live setting; I made it past the first round but got decimated in the second round. I felt okay about things, though, because the guy who won was such a hard-core Tetris player he was wearing a custom-made Tetris T-shirt he had made specifically for the tourney. Still: It's easy to forget how tense Tetris can get.
So now that there is a storage solution, how many of you will suddenly be stocking up on some VC and WiiWare games?
I'm waaaaaaaaaaay more open to filling up on more WiiWare games now that this storage solution is available! I have a 2 gig card in there and about 4600 wii points to blow!
And I just got BitTripBeat which is excellent :^:
How many of you will be getting Tetris Party? (And why isn't there an official thread for it?!)
Not sure when I"ll get it, maybe soon maybe not, I have so many WW options right now I don't know what to get next after BitTrip Beat
Sorry, RockinX. Don't know the answer to that one. Although I'd think they'd still have to let you know about an update. It would suck to turn off the console when you didn't know it was secretly updating the firmware and risk bricking the Wii.
Well, I just got Tetris Party. Just now. NOW now. Mario's going nuts on the coin block. Someone make an official thread before I am forced to do so, please.
88 blocks of Wii memory left. LOL! I think I can get rid of the Check Mii Out channel on the Wii memory and use it solely from SD, if I ever do use it again.
Heh, it's unlikely that they'd brick a Wii just for having the Homebrew Channel. I don't use it for illegal stuff, and even if I did, it's illegal for Nintendo to do that.
So I have had 7000 points sitting on my Wii since Christmas. I have been waiting on this storage shit, and now that they've delivered, I get to hit all the games I've been waiting on. Tetris will be there, and I've been thinking about getting all the Strongbad episodes. What is Space Invaders get even?
From what I've read, it's a great blend of action and strategy with a lot of style & humor. However, it's essentially a $20 game broken up into 4 pieces: the core game ($5) has only 1 mission (2 levels + a boss fight) plus there are 3 other add-ons ($5 a piece) that add 2 more missions plus some other extras for a total of 7 missions if you buy everything. So really, there isn't really much point in just buying the core game (which is essentially an extended demo); unless you hate the first mission, it's really more of an all or nothing sort of proposition (like the Siren PS3 game).
Personally, the game is high on my list of games to buy next time I get Wii points.

Yesterday, system patch lets you run stuff off SD cards.
