LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "Saturday Night Live" veteran Jimmy Fallon was officially named on Monday to take Conan O'Brien's place on NBC next year when O'Brien succeeds Jay Leno as host of "The Tonight Show."
The announcement, which had been expected for weeks, was made during a press event from NBC headquarters in New York where O'Brien's "Late Night" show is taped.
The appointment of Fallon, long considered a leading contender for NBC's 12:35 a.m. time slot, completes a talent shuffle set in motion when the General Electric Co-owned network announced in 2004 that Leno would retire from "Tonight" in 2009 and that O'Brien would replace him.
Not to mention his trademark inability to deliver a single line without cracking up over how funny the joke is going to be, thereby ruining it for the audience

I predict that one of his shticks will be the bastard child of Weekend Update.
It's late night t.v. not only that but it is on NBC, it was pretty bad in the first place, I doubt anyone will suffer anymore because of a change of hosts.

I hope Conan doesn't have to "tone it down" because he's going on at an earlier time
The way I look at it is The Tonight Show is one of NBC's defining programs. They've got a big audience to please. I just hope that NBC sees that Conan, as he is, has a huge audience, despite his shitty time slot. So, they decide to just let Conan be who he is, rather than try and make him more appealing to The Tonight Show's current audience (read: people with little sense of humor).

Man, I hope. Conan will probably be watered down when he gets to the Tonight Show.
I'm glad Conan is getting upgraded though, I've always liked him.
so terrible

Doesn't Carson Daily host some show too? Ehhh

that tells you all you need to know right there
man fuck you Conan's show is awesome

I remember when he showed up on Band of Brothers.
His voice was the exact same.
I kept expecting him to smirk at the camera or try to stifle a laugh.
God I hate that guy.
actually way way way back when Jay Leno was an actual stand up comedian his schtick was nothing at all like he is now.
He's always been terrible/unfunny on the Tonight Show though
that sig is tiny, you guys've just lost your perspective
