So I built a new computer, but I've had problems turning it on: it wont. I flip the switch on the PSU and the case LED turns on, but nothing spins up, and the DVD drive won't open. I already checked cables, but this is my first PC build and i'm lost at this point. Can anyone help?
Edit: ok, so the wires from the case to motherboard were color-coded wrong, which resulted in my HDD Led being attached to the power LED, the Power LED being in the power button slot, and the Power button wire attached to the power LED slot. let this sink down, I'll repost if I have more problems
Well, if you get a green LED (or generic LED light) on the motherboard when the PSU switch is flipped, your mobo is good and getting power. If no fans turn when you hit the power button, check the motherboard LED again. If it's off, bad motherboard or PSU. Check the PSU with a tester ($20 at Fry's) and if all lights are green, check the motherboard.
