Apparently the general public is so God Damned retarded that The Golden Compass being a complete piece of shit didn't stop it from winning two Oscars and convincing these people to make more.
I'm sure there's plenty of other shitty sequels to shitty movies coming out that you fellows wouldn't mind shitting on, so there you have it.
Subtle Knife was a decent book
Also apparently the atheist themes were obvious enough to send parents into a rage over their precious little churchgoer being exposed to theme
Fuck those people
The books were way more straight-forward with the whole atheism thing
But I haven't read the books either so I'm sure the books are better and blah blah
did you know they made a sequel to American Psycho
I actually disliked the movie before ever reading the book. The movie was interesting enough that I decided to check out the books. After a bit of reading my opinion on the movie just became that much worse.
See, there were certain things in the film that fucked it up and had nothing to do with knowing or not knowing what happens in the book ahead of time.
For one thing, the CGI was pretty retarded. I know that you can't expect a film to have the best effects when it's aimed at kids (Which the books were not, in the first place) but if you're going to have animated animals on screen that are supposed to look real, they should look like real animals. Until some kid's dog starts talking, I shouldn't be able to tell if it's real or not.
Second, was the story itself. They tried way too hard to cram everything into it, and spent almost no time dwelling on any of it, so you had no time to really enjoy the scenery and couldn't really follow the pace the film was travelling at since it kept jumping from one thing to another. The entire film, the way it was produced, basically is nothing but a 2 hour introduction to The sequel.
Last, is the ending. They had the ending from the book filmed out, but then decided to gut it and just end the film 2 or 3 scenes early. This isn't hidden well either. The film just goes to black at a completely inappropriate moment that doesn't at all feel like it's supposed to end here.
It's ironic that they wanted to dilude the anti-organized religion themes in it, yet they wound up cutting out the ending, being the only part in the film that makes it anything but anti-religion,
Spoilers for those who haven't read the books;
Basically, Lyra's father turns out to be a ruthless monster, and kills her best friend to use the resulting energy to power a gateway that bridges the gap between worlds. Up until this point, the only real enemy was the Magisterium (The church) and it was this point that defines where the story is going. By removing this, they took out the sense of direction of the story, and completely disrupted the flow of events.
They basically shot themselves in the foot, since all they can do now is reinsert the parts they cut out into the second film, unless they plan to completely rewrite the entire fucking trilogy.

yes they were
also, I think you want "diluted"
I guess "diluded" is like some kind of amalgam of diluted and deluded

They were aimed at a young audience, but not the audience the movies were trying to appeal to. The way the movie was done seemed very much like they were trying to make it into the next Harry Potter.
Also yes, I apparently created a new mutant word there.
I would say "young audience" and "kids" are close enough to the same thing to uh
be the same thing
I'd say that the movie was hacked up to the point where it was safe for parents to bring their 7-8 year olds, and that seems a little younger than what His Dark Materials is aimed at.
Straight to video sequels should just not exist. If you think it is such shit that it wouldn't make money in theaters, you prolly shouldn't be releasing it.

what the hell is the subtle knife
but just not so obvious

You don't see it at first
but then someone stabs you with it and you're like ohhhhhhhhhhh
I would hate to see a sequel to The Princess Bride. I hope no one touches that, ever.
after the sense of surprise subsides you start screaming and trying to yank out the clearly unsubtle knife
There should've only been one!
so wait, you both read Eragon and watched Eragon?
how old are you

As defense I'll say I watched it with my family, my youngest brother is 10.
However I do enjoy the books.
Fixed your spoiler.
Also you fail at reading comprehension.

Oh I'm sorry, this wasn't the thread to talk about sequels that shouldn't exist? My bad. Could you point me towards it then dipshit?
I'm not angry with you
I'm angry with the studio, this is the problem with text
