my eye is running and i cannot seem to catch it

edited May 2008 in Help / Advice Forum
a quick note that I have some pretty bad allergies this time of year, however it is usually sinus/tight chest allergies and not itchy eye allergies.

since late saturday early sunday morningish my left eye has been watering almost constantly. There hasn't been any type of goopy buildup until tonight, however that might have something to do with the visine i put in earlier (I'm really squeamish about putting shit in my eyes which is why I haven't done it until now.)

The obvious thing to do is to call the doctor if it continues, but I'm sorta curious if anyone has had this sort of thing happen before for a prolonged period (going on 4 days), and if so what was the cause. I don't want to cause a stir if its just my allergies kicking it into overdrive after the rainy weekend.

4 days? If it continues? Dude, GO to the doctor, like, yesterday.

very minimal goopage, I've had pinkeye before and I don't think its that.

if the stuff i put in tonight doesn't do the trick i'll prolly call up the doc tomorrow.

I was more curious as to the second half of my post.

Obviously the discharge makes it difficult to know, but can you feel any sort of solid irritation (such as grit) that would cause a sti? Or can you feel anything that would indicate the sti itself?

Nah it doesn't feel like I have anything in my eye at all (aside from being slightly dried out due to the running), its similar to when you go outside on a cold and windy day and your eye starts watering, except it goes on for hours.

Are you taking any allergy medications? If not, I'd suggest Zytec, but only if you think you can handle it. That shit puts me out cold within a few hours.

Yeah, if you're not taking any antihistamine, start popping a Claritin or some similar non-drowsy one during the day, and Benadryl at night.

Edit: Start just using the Allegra during the day, and taking Benadryl at night; it's significantly more effective.

Plus, you'll have the best dreams. Who wouldn't want that?

I shall do these things, but now I must sleep.

We'll see what the situation is tomorrow, hopefully it results in a thread lockage.

woke up this morning with my eye completely crusted shut, had to use a wet towel to moisten it up enough to open.

went to the doctor after lunch and found out that i had a really, really, really tiny eyelash that somehow got lodged in my eye, causing a slight infection.

    problem solved :P
