Amp and sub for a '91 Mustang

I'm looking to put a subwoofer and amp in my car now that I've pretty much established the speakers that are in there aren't going to cut it for low end bass. However, I'm not sure what to look for. I did find Crutchfield has a Canadian site finally and was looking on there. The amp and sub I'm looking at are:
I was actually looking to get a pair of 8" subs, but selection is limited and that sub seems like a hell of a deal and would probably be better by itself than a pair of cheaper 8 inchers. The amp is $250 and the sub is $90 - is Infinity a good brand? Can I do better for less money?
Actually what you selected is damn near perfect... you would run the sub at near peak RMS wattage considering you have a 4 ohm impedence.
I assume that because you are only getting a 10 and were looking at 2 8 inches, you aren't going for that BOOM noise, you are going to like the bass extension and control on the amp. I had a pair of 10" Infinity Kappas that were freaking AWESOME... I like Infinity for Car Audio, they are like the top of the mid range with decent prices. If you want to get better than Infinity you are going to be spending $Texas.
Caustic on
COMPLETELY TRUE FACT ABOUT THE MOVIE "POCKET NINJAS" #2: Director Dave Eddy was once arrested for illegally propositioning the Baby Jesus Christmas figurine outside the Our Lady of the Monotonous Peace church in downtown Burbank.
I've had an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12 Sub for a little over two years now. It's clean, it hits hard, and it's fucking durable. I'm a bigtime Infinity fan. I can't comment on their amps though, as I use a Rockford P3001 Amp. I do know that my 380w RMS amp seems to work perfectly with my 350w RMS sub, so it seems like you're on the right track with what you've got there.

Yeah, I'm after the richer sound, not the thumping car - mainly because my car will rattle like crazy if I do that. Also, the smaller I keep the setup, the easier it'll be to fit it in an out of the way place. What I really needed was confirmation that Infinity equipment was worthwhile and you've confirmed that.
