I seriously hate laws that kick in based on some random idiot's subjective opinion rather than immutable states.
I actually kinda like it. It means laws can't be manipulated by assholes.
That law is pretty much the opposite. All someone has to do is scream, point at you and say he felt threatened by you and your in cuffs and on your way to the station to get your court date.
"Your honour, I understand that Mrs. Johnson may have interpreted the way I was... weilding my submarine sandwich as threatening, or perhaps it was even the dangerously spicy combination of salami and hot peppers, but still I beg of you: Just let me eat the damn thing! I'm starving!"

If memory serves, there's a scene in Casino where LEOs shoot a mafioso because they thought his sub sandwhich was a gun.
Also, for the record and kind of back on topic, I will be wearing these during PAX:
Maybe even the hanfu...
In addition to my black cotton changshan/cheongsam which everybody has seen me wear before I'm sure.
Those look totally awesome. They can help make ordinary people look like kung-fu masters.
I have a serious yet weird question, though. :?:
How difficult is it to utilize a urinal while wearing one of those?
Do you open the clothing from the side?

I would imagine it's similar to a dress. Lift, hold, relieve.
i will probably be going as horatio caine from csi: miami. it will be spectacular.
Holy shit! Can we make sure we see each other? Because I will totally bring a recording of The Who scream, or just scream myself, every time you pull your shades on and crack a cheezy one-liner !
Also, it would be hot if we could secure at least one girl to cosplay for each of the TF2 classes... I've seen a fair amount of artwork for the female counterparts, and I'd be so jazzed if the ladies would be willing to work some of those styles, or their own. At the very least, it'd make for a cool group picture.

I've never been to PAX, and was just wondering what the reaction to cosplay is. Does the crowd generally appreciate cosplay at this con?
i assume from you id pic that you've cosplayed before at anime cons (btw, FPM). PAX is different from any other con out there. There aren't crowds of people taking pictures, mostly those that appreciate cosplay will just nod and move along. I think partly this is due to the low number of cosplayers, but then again, it could be the opposite.
To sum up, you won't be thrown out, but don't expect massive crowds taking photos either.
haha I don't think that helped much, but don't worry. I'll be cosplaying too, along with everyone else that has said so on this thread, so you aren't alone ^^b
Cause the general vibe I got from PAX last year was that cosplayers were mostly tolerated.
Aside from the swanky booth babes.
I think the main thing is that cosplayers can make people particularly uncomfortable. They make an already unusual environment especially unusual. And for many PAX-goers this is probably the most social and crowded event they go to in the year.
The main thing is, they aren't there for YOU. You just happen to be there and are dressed funny.

Like a fur suiter at a dance club.
I completely agree, which is why I won't be wearing some bizarre/elaborate costume. My Rock Band character (which is who I'll be dressing as) is dressed fairly normal, albeit unusually cool. I don't think I could make anyone uncomfortable dressing the way I will be. I'll try to post a pic in a couple days.

all of the above is very true. much better explained than what i was getting at.
The general vibe I got about cosplay last year is best summed up in one word - meh.
If you are dressing as a popular game character like the TF2 guys or Phoenix/Edgeworth, you'll probably get some nods of approval. If you're coming as an anime/tv/movie character the responses will be varied. If the theme is widely known amongst gaming geeks they'll probably appreciate it. If it's more obscure, or something that only anime fans will be aware of, or scantily clad, you will most likely get some odd/uncomfortable looks.
Hell, you'll probably get some odd looks even with the slightest bits of costuming. I think I gave a guy an orgasm last year because I let him touch my quidditch goggles. o_O
But just take the hardcore costume and then your friend will be more likely to take the easy one. Of course very few people will recognize it because most PAX-goers aren't actually hardcore PA fans (let alone have any exposure to the bygone days... I remember donating once...).

Just because you were able to get in on the ground floor doesn't mean you have to rub it in my face. (I would have donated if I knew about PA back then, I just showed up to the party too late.)
i was thinking about dressing up as a monk from the 1st apocryphal church of Ball, you know like walking around in blue robes wearing a tall domed hat and carrying a large blue book telling people things like "the ball bounced for your sins" or "Repent the second bouncing is nigh!"

AWESOME
Slick goodness. Is the rest of the band going to be in attendance?
I'm making my guitar player come, but he won't be dressing up.

That's because there is no way to tell that I'm lurking in the thread. And that I'm stuck at work, so my humor is off a bit.
