My new car...RIMS???

Ok, so i'm getting married, and me and the misses both like this. I like it, test drove it, and have one being delivered, but the rims have to go. Since it's a limited edition, i can't change the rims out through scion. Anyone have a good idea what type/style rims to go with, and where to get them?
All i have near me is Town Fair Tire. There are some custom shops, but many seem shady.
Live with them until you wear out the tires, then get new rims. For what decent wheels cost you should make sure you have the tire width/section you want. That is to say you could +1 and go with a 1" bigger rim and a shorter sidewall to keep the same overall diameter.(The main reason to do this is to allow a larger brake but it usually looks good)
If you really want to make a change now go to http://www.tirerack.com/index.jsp and you can look at many available wheels on an image of the Scion. They also offer good pricing, have an installer finder, and don't sell crap.
I would imagine that the Scion dealership will sell you any wheels that will fit the xD. Then you can keep the ones that come on it for snow tires. But I would agree with fuelish on keeping them until you at least need new tires.

i would be keeping the original ones as snow tires. Scion has a set of rims and tires they showed me for $1800 (18 inch) but i want black ones.
I guess it really all depends on what you want. You can always have whatever wheels you decide on painted or powder coated for a nominal fee afterwards.
I'd recommend not going with 18" wheels on that particular car. They'll have significantly more rotating mass than the 16" ones that come on it and will impact your fuel economy. Also the low profile tires you'll need on the 18" wheels are ridiculously expensive in comparison.
I'd recommend shopping http://www.tirerack.com. They're showing 142 different options for that particular car ranging from $72 a wheel all the way to $770 a wheel. Once you get the wheels you can get tires at any local shop, or even at tirerack and have a local shop mount and balance them. I've had good luck with O.Z., BBS and Enkei wheels. Looking at their pricing you should be able to beat the scion dealerships price by quite a bit.
Check out Scion forums and read up on what other people have used and what will fit for the xD. You'll need to match the bolt pattern of the original wheels and depending on the width of the wheels you buy, determine a correct offset for the new wheels.
If you get an idea of what kind of rims you want eBay is a pretty good place to shop for wheels. I got some discontinued 17 inch forged wheels for a song when I was shopping.
The bolt pattern is 5x100, with an offset of 38. I'm assuming that that 38 offset sits flush. So just search online for what you want in that bolt pattern, and keep that offset in mind.

For what it's worth, the car I recently purchased came with black MSR wheels and Falken FK-452 tires. I never thought I'd give a damn about what the wheels looked like, but I loved them once I saw them.
That said, I doubt I'd ever spend that much on wheels. But yeah, they get my vote. The only downside is that the wheel rims stick out a few mm from the tires, necessitating extreme care when getting close to curbs. Something to think about when you outfit your car.

See how many books I've read so far in 2010
