I knew there was a reason I picked him up and kept him on my roster
Also Webb why do you hate me
You're supposed to win every start
Hey go drop 19 runs to the Tigers :P
Webb was bound to start running out of steam sometime, this just seems to be it. I tried moving for him in another league after his last start and was told

So, I don't really follow much baseball but I can't help but notice that the Mariners suck pretty much every year. What is a guy like Ichiro doing there, really? Is his contract escapeproof or something?

He's under contract with them until 2012, worth $90m, though 20m of that is deferred. I imagine he has a no trade clause, so there's no way to move him unless he wants to, and I guess he likes it there, especially with the strong Japanese population. A place like Arizona or Cleveland probably isn't very exciting to him. They also weren't too bad last year even if they fell short in the end. Who knows, maybe they'll turn it around this year.

He signed an extension last year through 2012. The club is partly owned by Nintendo, and having a Japanese player presence on the team is important to them, so they gave him his money.

I have heard the guy's a bit overrated but that doesn't mean he's crap. However, the reasons given for his staying there make sense.
man soriano really needs to learn how to play outfield I guess

It's good to see my hometown Royals returning to the form I know and love.
They've dropped 8 in a row and our bullpen and rotation are starting to fall apart. I knew getting close to .500 40 games into the season was just an aberition.

Thanks, could you get back to being the bottom feeder of the AL Central now? This kind of sucks.

I love loud home plate umpires, and there is one calling the spots for the Tigers / Angels game.
Goddammit Chicago, why do you always have to do well in the regular season so I get my hopes up and then tank in the playoffs? Why??? Can't you just suck consistently and be done with it? Counting this year, it's been a fucking century since the Cubs won the World Series. You'd think that would be enough for me to pick a new team, but no. I am a baseball masochist.
Anyway, I haven't been following too closely this year; I've been watching the college playoffs. Have I missed anything utterly spectacular? Does everyone still hate the Yankees?
Cheering for the White Sox would make me feel like even more of a traitor than cheering for any other team. Besides, I can't abandon the Cubs just because they lose. Ryne Sandberg was my hero when I was a kid; I can't turn my back on his team.
I just have to mope and complain. It's what Cubs fans do.

I like how Fukudome said the Cubs conveniently left out their losing streak when courting him.

Heh. I look back on it and am always left wondering how the hell they managed to get him. The guy was amazing. Of course, I'm a bit biased, being a former second baseman myself...

The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.

I can't believe that even with Utley's production today, Blew Men Group's offense crushed me. He even has the DL'd Furcal slotted in his ss position too, and still manages to be crazy with his offense. This is going to be a tough week.

God damn! I was just checking the box score for he Rockies vs. Phillies from tonight.
Philly just unloaded on them, 20 runs on 19 hits. And of course a former Royal was on the recieving end of the shelling, good old Jorge de La Rosa got nailed for the first 6 runs. Josh Newman also put in a stellar performance allowing 6 earned in only 2/3rds of an inning.

I had a feeling the 2 best records in the AL would be in the AL East, and that one would be Boston....
I can't wait to see my Sox the next time they're in Tampa.
You live in/around Tampa and you root for the Red Sox? :v:
It's not like there's been a lot to root for, historically. He could also be a transplant.
We're everywhere.
Yeah, that's for sure. Bandwagon Red Sox fans aplenty in every baseball town in the US.
Sure, there hasn't been a lot to root for in our very short history, but I'd never root for another team just because mine hadn't been playing well. That's pretty low.
edit- What do Jays fans have against Hinske exactly? He was fairly productive there.

Eat like El Guapo, win like El Toro.
I hope he picks up the W, because I'm taking a risk on him this week.
Depends entirely on the bats. Fat Fatty should survive his 5-6 IP no problem, but if King Felix is on you ain't gettin' squat.
Fatty Fat Fat Fatty Fatty is the nickname reserved for Denny Reyes, thank you very much.

Reds call up Jay Bruce which MLBTR speculates is about all she wrote for Patterson.
Diamondbacks are doing pretty good, and so are the White Sox, so I don't have much to complain about.
Go sit in your corner

so I guess that worked out for me.
I'll take that
I can't wait for Daisuke's starts to see how many walks he can give up and still get the win, even though I know it's bad for my health.
My over/under for the season: 95BB, 18 wins, 180IP
Sounds like he's similar to the Todd Jones Experience. He had two away yesterday and I joked that he would walk the next three batters.
Should probably shut my hole.

So how about them Rays?

Everyone hates the Yankees but Zen, who has a valid excuse (and permits!) to like them.

Zen is from New York, grew up there. If you don't share this quality, you clearly are Hitler.
Just got home from the game, Hinske absolutely crushed a ball. Best record in baseball right now.

King Felix fall down go boom.
0 12 9 9 4 19 1 0 (obviously counts tonight)
This would be the world's greatest pitching line.

That right there is a reliever with a 3.00 ERA.
Texas would sign him for $8M/2 years.
I can't say I'm a fan of this. Pick up your shit.
