Picking out a 360

Gamestop is having a special where you get a gift card when you pick up a 360 and GTA4, both of which I had been planning to get once school let out, and I recall in previous discussions how systems with a serial number past a certain range were less prone to overheating. Can anyone point out the range to look for/avoid? I'm planning on a premium model.

    I'm getting interested in this too, despite my backlog of games. The sheer number of awesome games and the Live experiences I'm hearing about are really starting to tempt me. I've tried to hold out, first when the news of the red-ring o' death, and now for price drops/deals... any idea as to when they should get cheaper or future sales/deals that will be likely? The better the deal, the easier it will be to justify buying another system when I've got so many other great games to play through already...

    There's a smaller processor and price drop coming this August. I'm only listing one source, but it is believed by pretty much all the "insiders."
