So hey, there's a teaser trailer for something called "Beyond Good & Evil 2"

Fresh from the Ubidays press event. Listed as 360/PS3 for now, very realistic art style (looks like CG), nothing more than Jade and Pey'j and a busted-ass car in the middle of the desert. It tells you absolutely nothing, and yet the name says everything!

Update:

Update 2: The teaser is supposed to be done with the game's engine. Incredible if true.

    This is pretty awesome.

I thought the first one was a bit overrated though.

I didn't think it was the be-all-end-all that most people thought it was, but it was a very refreshing sort of game; it was a hybrid of platforming, action and stealth but it somehow was greater than the sum of its parts. I also liked the aesthetic and the environments, plus the concept of playing as a photojournalist. The only real knock I had against it was that it was really easy, but I enjoyed the journey so much that I didn't mind. It's one of the few games from last gen I still keep around to replay from time to time.

EDIT: And the best part of the game, hands down, was the text-entry spiral keyboard.

So "1- The Pig" means that we'll have one teaser for each character?

And I agree with everyone above. The first one was a small but very enjoyable gem.

I hope so, and I hope they're not too drawn out. I want to get a sense of what the game actually has.

Updated OP ... Gamesyde is reporting that this could actually be in-engine. Holy shitballs if true, but I'll reserve judgment until we learn more about it.

Dammit Lunker..beat me by 5 minutes on the op

Is it just me or does Peyj's voice sound a little different? Hopefully they keep the same voice actors. This definitely looks to be a 360/PS3/PC project.

Let's hope for either less or better stealth sections.

So it really exists? Wonderful. I'm so happy that I can almost ignore my doubts about the graphical style, the lack of info, or the fact that it doesn't look like it's coming to a system I own or have any real intention of owning in the future. Almost.

I'll give it a spin if it comes to the PC though, assuming that I can get a new one by the time it comes out or it can actually play on my current one (judging by what I've heard about Assassin's Creed, no chance!).

Considering I preferred the handful of stealth portions in BG&E to MGS, I would say I disagree.

Also, we're going to need at least four more topics, maybe five.

It's been so long since I played the first game. I beat it in about 12-14 hours then immediately (something I never do) played through it again in 8. I will start a new game soon.

Oh god, yes. I bought the original game used (it actually took me awhile to find it) but I think I might buy it on Steam just so Ancel and Ubisoft can have some of my money from BG&E.

I would have liked BG&E an awful lot more without as much stealth, or at least without the lasers that killed you instantly when spotted.

Those saying the game is detracting from the original vision with a non stylised realistic art direction are missing what was so good about the first game.

It was distinctive. I felt the whole time playing BG+E1 that it was a little constrained by the technology, a case of being hamstrung by the hardware limitations.

This teaser trailer - which we are told by Ubi is in-engine realtime - still retains a lot of that visual grace. Jade is instantly recognisable, Peyj is also just as distinctive. The backdrop is breathtaking and the whole thing is coherent and wrapped up in a nice sheen.

My guess, Ubi will use their incredibly well made and robust Assassin's Creed engine, which they are using for the Prince of Persia game, for this. That would be my bet. I mean why not, it runs like hotsauce on 360 and PS3 (Minor bugs aside for what was in the game Assassin's Creed was amazing. Entire cities and no loading. Yes please)
