I've done around 60 once. Just couldn't get my school and work schedules to work out so I just kept myself amused in the wee hours by surfing the internet.

Worst one was 36 hours sitting at a computer, excepting bathroom breaks.

In what context do you spend 36 hours sitting at a computer?

    fingers crossed for lan party

I really don't know, I just did a bit of homework, checked the forums, talked to the various time zone folks in vent, played some flash games, and suddenly realized that it was getting light outside for the second time.

    That's ridiculous

Do you have some kind of disorder

Nope, only time it ever happened. I did a 36 hours awake, 12 hours asleep, repeat, schedule for that semester though. I would go to school, homework all that night, go to work in the morning, and then sleep until noon the next day (which I would have off).

EDIT: I never really played any online shooters or MMOs, combination of always having a crappy computer and never really getting into the genres.

Weekly, I go for three days with only about 6 hours of sleep. The first span is usually 28 hours awake, then a 3 hours nap. I work overnight 13 hours shifts, from 6pm to 7am, and then have to come home and get my older 2 sons ready for school. Even once they're off on the bus I have to stay up with my 4 year old since he stays home. I get to nap when he naps.

I work Wed and Thr nights this way, then come Fri night I try to shift myself back to being awake during the day and sleeping that night.

I'm probably shaving 10 years off my life but there's not much I can do about it right now.

I'll probably be dead in 5 years given how terrible the sleep schedule was for so long.

    Hi5!

Its been 3 years and counting. Minus about a week of vacation per year.

We should have a support group with good catering and fluffy pillows.

hahaha, that would be nice. We get a 10% shift differential for doing it, so that's the incentive. Plus with my wife working days and our shifts totally offsetting we save a shit-ton in daycare.

But yeah, I'll probably be dead the day after I'm old enuff to retire.

Coincidentally, we're doing a "No sleep for PAX" contest in at least one of the hotel rooms. It will not end well.

I go pretty crazy with or without sleep at night

something about the sun setting has me thinking it's okay to talk to myself

During the fifth day of the five day lack, I eventually started bounding around the house and screeching like a monkey because it felt more normal than talking. There had been nobody in the house the whole time, I hadn't left the house that whole time, and communication didn't really mean much other than to express pain or anger or happiness.

    Try this sometime:

if you have a swivel chair, start spinning around on it for a couple minutes, sitting normally with eyes closed. Then, lean forward and tilt your head to the side while spinning, eyes still closed. Depending on which direction you tilt your head, it feels like you're either falling downward or upward

PAX is one time where i've never had reason to stay awake all night, and have usually slept more than I should. Compared to other expos, it's kinda casual that way.

I made it almost 5 days I gave up when I had saw the couch was a living carpet of mice. One of the other people in the trial made it 2 hours short of 7 days
He had a 3+ hour conversation with something that crawled out from the same couch.

I think I sleep 4 or 5 hours a day anymore it's hard to break the cycle

It was this 4 or 5 day stretch during April. I had all these shows going on, and when I got home I would try to fall asleep but couldn't. My behavior took such a dive during that time.

But would I do it again? For the money, yes.

I can't usually go very long without sleep. Around midmorning after missing a night of sleep I tend to lose interest in the entire project and crash out.

However, I have spent thirty-six hours baling hay. There was a hurricane-driven series of thunderstorms coming that were going to dump buckets of rain on us, and we had two sections of alfalfa on the ground. We ate our meals while refueling the tractors. Ended up putting up around 2500 round bales. It sucked mightily.

I'm pretty sure most people who claim they stayed awake for long periods of time are unaware that they're catnapping.

...which it turns out is a completely archaic british expression none of you will have heard of meaning feeling asleep involuntarily for short periods of time. I once completed a game in a fugue while trying to stay awake.
